New York Unemployment: Just Applied After Layoff - What's The Timeline?
Just got laid off and submitted my unemployment application. Anyone know how long it usually takes to get approved and start receiving payments? Already checking my mail and email constantly for updates.

took about 3-4 weeks for me to get approved, just keep certifying every week even before ur approved. That way when they do approve u theyll back pay for those weeks 👍

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone using claimyr.com - its this service that calls and waits on hold for you then transfers when someone picks up. costs $20 but worked for me when i needed to check my claim status. heres a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Make sure u have ALL ur paperwork ready - w2s, pay stubs, everything. They might ask for it and if u dont respond fast enough it delays everything 💯

Listen here's the complete rundown based on my experience: - Application review typically takes 2-6 weeks - Make sure to certify EVERY week starting now - Set up direct deposit immediately if you haven't - Keep checking your email spam folder - Document EVERYTHING from your employer - If you need to talk to someone, use claimyr.com (saved me tons of time) Don't stress if it takes a while, they'll backpay you for all weeks certified. Just keep good records and stay on top of weekly certifications.
