NYSDOL unemployment: No payments after 3 weeks of filing, what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment payments. I've been filing for 3 weeks now but haven't seen a dime. Got an email on 7/1 telling me to call them, which I did, but still nothing. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what to say when I finally get through to someone? I'm getting pretty worried about making ends meet.

Don't forget to keep records of all your calls and emails. It helps if you need to escalate the issue.

Claimyr can be a helpful tool when youβre desperate to reach someone at unemployment, but itβs worth considering the cost and weighing your options. It's a service that charges a fee to help connect you to an agent, which some people find worth it to save hours of hold time. However, before resorting to paid services, I recommend exhausting all free avenues such as calling during off-peak hours, checking online accounts, or visiting local offices if possible. Additionally, be prepared to present all necessary documentation and information when you finally do get in touch with an agent. Remember, while Claimyr is a legitimate service with positive reviews, itβs important to do your own research and ensure it's the right fit for your situation.

Ugh, I feel ya. The system is so broken rn. I waited 6 weeks before I saw my first payment. Here's what worked for me: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Have all your info ready when you call (claim number, last 4 of SSN, etc.) 3. Ask specifically about any pending verifications or issues with your claim. 4. Be polite but firm. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. Good luck! π

Good advice! I would add that if you don't have luck calling, try other ways to reach out like emailing or even visiting in person if possible.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds sketchy. You sure this isn't a scam?

Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous! The system is so broken π€

Has anyone else tried Claimyr? I'm curious if it worked for others too. More reviews would be helpful!

Anyone else notice how the system always seems to "crash" right when you're about to submit your claim? It's like they're doing it on purpose! π€

Tin foil hat much? π It's probably just overloaded from so many people using it.

It might help to try submitting your claim during off-peak hours. Fewer users means less chance of crashes.

Three weeks aint nothin, kid. I've been waiting for 2 months! The whole system is a joke. They expect us to live on air while they sit on their butts "processing" our claims. π€¬

Preach! π It's like they forget we have bills to pay and families to feed.

C'mon man, no need to be so harsh. The people working there are probably swamped. It sucks for everyone.

Have you tried faxing your info? I know it sounds old school, but it worked for me when I couldn't get through on the phone.

Interesting. I haven't heard of anyone using fax lately, but whatever gets the job done!

PSA: If anyone's having trouble getting through, try calling right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week.

Great tip! I agree, calling first thing is often the best strategy to avoid long wait times.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there's info there about why payments are held up. Could be identity verification or something.

Yeah, I've been checking like crazy. Nothing there except my claim info. No messages or alerts about verification π€·ββοΈ

Oof, that sucks. Maybe try reaching out on Twitter? I've heard some people have had luck getting responses there.

If you're not seeing anything in your account, it might be worth calling customer service to confirm. Sometimes information isn't updated properly online.

This might sound crazy, but has anyone tried going to their local office in person? I'm thinking of giving it a shot next week.

I tried that last month. They just told me to call the hotline or use the website. Total waste of time. π

Some offices are open for in-person help now, but you need an appointment. Check their website for info.

If you decide to go in person, make sure to bring all your documents and be prepared for a potential wait.

Hey OP, when you do get through, make sure to ask about retroactive payments for the weeks you've been waiting. Don't let them shortchange you!
