NYSDOL Unemployment Claim Stuck Halfway - No Response After a Month, Need Help
I started filing my unemployment claim online but got stuck halfway through. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm worried about when I'll get paid. I initially filed on June 16th, but haven't heard anything back yet. It's been over a month and I'm getting really anxious. Any advice on how to finish my claim or get in touch with someone who can help? I've tried calling but can't get through. This is so frustrating!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I finally got through last week and they told me there was a "glitch" in the system that was holding up my claim. Keep trying!

A glitch? That's concerning. Did they say how long it would take to fix?

They said it could take up to 10 business days. But who knows with these guys 🙄

Glitch or not, it's frustrating how often these issues pop up. Document everything they tell you!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Sounds sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds weird, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

While this service seems to work for some, it's crucial to ensure you aren't sharing sensitive information with third parties.

While the current unemployment system is certainly flawed, tools like Claimyr offer a potential solution for getting in touch with representatives more efficiently. However, users should always ensure these services are legitimate and protect their personal information. Beyond Claimyr, try multiple communication methods: emails, social media, and even traditional mail. Also, regularly check official updates from the unemployment department as they may announce new policies or solutions. Remember to document every contact attempt and interaction. This might feel like navigating a bureaucratic maze, but persistence and a strategic approach can lead to success.

LPT: Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every email, every piece of mail. You never know when you'll need to prove something later.

Absolutely. Keeping a record saved me when I had to appeal a decision.

It's truly a nightmare. Have you considered reaching out to local advocacy groups? Some of them offer assistance with EDD.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck so far. It's like playing the lottery 😫

I've had better luck calling later in the day, around 3 PM. Less traffic then.

It's worth trying at different hours, even during non-traditional times. Persistence is key.

Pro tip: use the "contact us" form on the website. I got a callback within 48 hours that way.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I heard from a friend of a friend that sometimes that works better than online submission.

Anyone else notice that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🤔

Maybe it's just poor timing and coincidence? But it's definitely suspicious.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system.

TLDR for newbies: 1. Be persistent 2. Have all your docs ready 3. Try different contact methods 4. Stay patient (easier said than done) 5. Remember you're not alone in this struggle Good luck to all of us in unemployment purgatory! 🍀

Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep all your documents ready (SSN, employment history, etc.) 2. Try to complete as much as you can online 3. When you get through to an agent, be super clear about needing help to finish your claim 4. Ask them to guide you through each incomplete section 5. Don't forget to ask about payment timelines! Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence pays off.

It took about 2 weeks after I finished filing. But I've heard it can vary. Just keep checking your account!

Two weeks sounds relatively quick. I guess I should prepare for a longer wait just in case.
