NYS Department of Labor claim showing highest rate of delays - anyone else experiencing this?
I've been tracking my unemployment claim for the past month and I'm seeing what feels like the highest rate of processing delays I've ever experienced. My weekly claims are getting stuck in 'pending' status for days before switching to 'processed.' Is anyone else noticing that NYS Department of Labor seems to be having system-wide slowdowns lately? My neighbor filed around the same time and she's seeing similar delays. Just wondering if this is a known issue or if I should be worried about my specific claim.

Yes, there's definitely been an uptick in processing delays across the board. The NYS Department of Labor updated their systems recently and there are some backend issues causing longer review times for weekly claims. Your claim status should still update eventually - just taking 3-4 extra days right now.

•Thanks for confirming! I was starting to panic that something was wrong with my claim specifically.

Same here!! my claims have been taking forever to process and I can never get through when I call the NYS Department of Labor phone number. this is so frustrating when you're depending on these payments

•I had the same problem with calling - kept getting busy signals or hung up on after waiting for hours. I ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that basically calls for you and gets you connected to an actual NYS Department of Labor agent. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Saved me so much time and frustration.

The delays are definitely real. I think it has to do with them upgrading their computer systems. My claim took almost a week to process last time instead of the usual 2-3 days. As long as you're still certifying your weekly claims on time, you should be fine.

•Wait so we still need to keep filing even if they're not processing them right away? I stopped filing because I thought something was broken...

•YES definitely keep filing! The delays are just on their processing end. If you miss your weekly certification deadline that's a much bigger problem.

Ugh this whole system is such a mess. I've been dealing with NYS Department of Labor for months and it's always something - first it was adjudication delays, now it's processing delays. They really need to get their act together because people are depending on these benefits to survive.
