What is current unemployment rate affecting NYS Department of Labor claim processing times?
Does anyone know what the current unemployment rate is in New York? I'm trying to understand if that's why my NYS Department of Labor claim is taking so long to process. Filed my initial claim 3 weeks ago and it's still showing pending adjudication. My friend said when unemployment rates are higher, the NYS Department of Labor gets backed up with more claims. Is that true? Just wondering if I should expect longer delays or if something might be wrong with my specific claim.

unemployment rates dont really affect processing times that much honestly. ive been through this a few times and NYS Department of Labor just takes forever sometimes. my last claim took 5 weeks in adjudication and that was when unemployment was lower

Current unemployment rate being 4.2% means the job market is actually pretty good right now. Your delay is probably just normal NYS Department of Labor bureaucracy. Keep filing your weekly claims even while in adjudication - that's important for maintaining your claim.
