NY unemployment deadline tomorrow - did everyone file on time?
Really stressing about this - I've been so busy I lost track of time and just realized the unemployment quarterly reporting deadline is tomorrow!! Did everyone else submit their certification already? Is it too late to file now? Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or if I'm the only one who messed up. Will I lose my benefits completely if I miss it?

You should be fine as long as you certify before midnight tomorrow. The NY DOL system lets you claim benefits for the previous week until the end of the next week. Just make sure you do it before the deadline or you'll have to go through the whole request to backdate process, which is a nightmare.

Just to clarify some information here: The weekly certification deadline is technically Sunday at midnight for the previous week. However, NY unemployment does give you until the end of the NEXT week to certify without penalty. After that, you need to request backdate certification which requires calling and explaining your reason for missing the deadline. If you're concerned about a quarterly review or document submission that's different from the weekly certification, I would log in immediately and check your dashboard for any messages or required actions. Some documents have strict deadlines that, if missed, could cause payment interruptions.

•Wait now I'm confused - I'm talking about the quarterly employment verification form they sent me. Is that different from weekly certification? The letter said I have to verify my employment status every quarter or benefits stop.

I HATE these deadlines!!! I missed mine by ONE DAY last quarter and it took THREE WEEKS to get my payments back!!! The system is DESIGNED to make people fail so they can save money!!

•Oh no that sounds awful! Did you have to call them to fix it or was there a way to do it online?

Ah, I see. Yes, the Quarterly Employment Verification is different from weekly certifications. This form confirms you're still eligible under the same circumstances as when you initially applied. If this is what you received, then yes, the deadline is strict and missing it could interrupt your benefits. I suggest completing it immediately. If you can't access it online, you'll need to contact NYSDOL directly, which can be challenging given their call volumes.

This reminds me of when I missed a deadline last year and my payments stopped for almost a month. I had medical reasons but they still made me jump through hoops. Had to get a doctor's note and everything. The stress made my condition worse!

•Sorry that happened to you. The system definitely doesn't make allowances for real-life circumstances very well.

When I had trouble reaching someone at unemployment about a missed deadline, I used Claimyr to get through to an agent right away. It was worth it because I got my issue resolved in one call instead of spending days trying to get through. Their video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - the site is claimyr.com if anyone needs it for deadline issues.

•Does that actually work? I spent 3 days trying to reach someone last month!

•Yep! Got me through in about 10 minutes when I had been trying for days. Saved me from missing a payment cycle.

UPDATE: I just submitted the form! Thank you everyone for the help. The verification questions were confusing (they asked about my job search activities even though I'm partially employed?) but I filled everything out. The system gave me a confirmation number, so I guess that means it went through okay? So relieved!

•Great news! Yes, the confirmation number means it was successfully submitted. Keep that number in your records just in case there are any questions later. And yes, they still ask about job search activities for partially employed individuals because you're expected to be seeking full-time employment while receiving partial benefits. Make sure you're keeping records of your job search efforts for future verifications.

•Thank you! I'll start keeping better records of my job applications. And I'll set a calendar reminder for the next quarterly deadline so I don't panic again!
