NY Unemployment claim stuck for months - contacting representatives actually worked!

This is so true! After two months of nonstop calling and getting absolutely nowhere with ny unemployment, I was desperate. I've been tellin people this for months!!!! The regular phone lines are a complete waste of time. My state senator's office got my issue fixed in like a week after I spent 2 months trying on my own. They have a special liaison who deals directly with unemployment.

This 100% works but you need to be persistent and professional. I emailed my state assemblyperson AND senator (do both!) with my full name, address, last 4 of SSN, and a brief explanation of my issue. Got a call from DOL 4 days later. BE NICE to the rep staff - they're drowning in cases.

I'm gonna be the voice of reality here. I contacted my rep THREE TIMES and got zero help. They just sent me a form letter saying "we'll look into it" and nothing happened. This might work for some people but it's not a guarantee.

I work for a state rep (not in NY) and can confirm this is 100% the move. We have special contacts at every agency that regular people don't have access to. Unemployment issues are like 60% of our casework right now. Just be nice and patient with the staff - we're trying our best to help everyone!

I'm having the opposite issue - getting paid when I shouldnt be! I returned to work 6 weeks ago but NY unemployment keeps depositing money every week even though I stopped certifying. THIS THIS THIS!!! 💯 The unemployment system is DESIGNED to be impossible to navigate. They are COUNTING on people giving up. DO NOT GIVE UP! Your representatives have staff whose entire job is helping constituents deal with state agencies. USE THEM!

Talking to a real person solves problems that emails never will. 3) Document EVERYTHING. Dates of calls, names of representatives, confirmation numbers, screenshots of your account, etc. 4) Follow up weekly with your representative's office - politely but persistently. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 5) If your case is particularly complicated or involves identity verification, try requesting a callback through the DOL website specifically for that issue. u kno whats crazy? I just got an email today saying I was overpaid $9800 from 2021 and need to pay it back!!! I reported everything correctly when I was unemployed. how are they just now finding "mistakes" years later?? anyone else dealing with this BS?

tried this and nothing happened lol. called my assembly person AND my state senator. both offices took my info and said they'd help. that was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. system is completely broken.

Another trick: call right when they open at 8am. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way. Later in the day it's impossible.

Anyone else notice that unemployment is literally IMPOSSIBLE to contact but they somehow manage to find you within seconds if they think you owe them money? 🤡
