Got NYDOL determination letter - what's next? Need advice!
Hey everyone, I filed my unemployment claim a few weeks ago and just got a determination letter. I'm not sure what to do next or if I need to take any action. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I expect now?

Congrats on getting the determination letter! That's a good sign. Did it mention any specific issues or next steps? Usually, if everything's good, you just need to keep certifying weekly and wait for payments to start.

ā¢Thanks for the reply! The letter didn't mention any specific issues, just that I'm eligible. So I guess I'll just keep certifying and hope for the best?

ā¢Yep, that's pretty much it! Just make sure you certify every week, even if you haven't received any payments yet. And keep an eye on your email/mail for any other communications from them.

ā¢Quick tip: save that determination letter! You might need it later if any issues come up. I learned that the hard way š

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Pro tip: start gathering all your employment docs now. Pay stubs, W2s, anything related to your work history. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later if they ask for additional info.

ā¢Nah, they probably just hired a bunch of temp workers to clear the backlog. Bet we'll see a ton of issues pop up in a few weeks when they realize all the mistakes š

Here's a comprehensive guide on what to expect after receiving your determination letter: ⢠Keep certifying weekly, without fail ⢠Check your bank account or debit card (if you chose that option) regularly for deposits ⢠Be prepared for a potential interview if there are any discrepancies ⢠Keep checking your online account for updates or messages ⢠Don't ignore any mail from the DOL, even if you're receiving benefits ⢠If you start working again, report your income accurately ⢠If you don't receive payment within 2-3 weeks, consider contacting them Remember, every case is different, but this should give you a general idea of the process. Good luck!

ā¢It's frustrating for sure, but remember the system wasn't designed to handle this many claims at once. They're doing their best with limited resources.
