Denied NY unemployment after being fired for 'company violation' - Need advice
I just got denied unemployment and I'm freaking out. They said I was fired for a 'company violation' but that's not true at all. I did my work, but they wanted me to stay late because others left early. I had to pick up my kid from school, so I couldn't stay. Now I'm out of a job and denied benefits. What can I do? I'm looking for work but need something to get by in the meantime. Any ideas?

I found a way to solve unemployment denial appeal issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVl31j_p4tc

Man, that sucks. Sounds like your company is trying to screw you over. Have you tried appealing the decision? You should def do that ASAP.

•Thanks for the advice. How do I go about appealing? Is it a complicated process?

•It's not too bad. You gotta fill out some forms and explain your side. Just be honest and give all the details. Good luck!

•Yeah, appeal for sure. And gather any evidence you can - emails, texts, anything that shows you were doing your job right.

I found a method to get someone on the phone at ny unemployment. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 is a lot when you're unemployed.

•I get it, I was skeptical too. But yeah, it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

•Is this even legal? Seems kinda sketchy to pay to get through to a government agency 🤔

•It's totally legal. They're just automating the hold process. You still talk to the same agents, just without the wait. Lifesaver when you're in a tough spot.

Ugh, the system is so broken. They always side with employers. 🤮 Fight this! Don't let them get away with it!

I've been in your shoes, and it's rough. Here's what you need to do to fight this denial and potentially get your unemployment benefits: 1. File an appeal immediately. You usually have a limited time to do this, so don't delay. 2. Gather evidence. Collect any emails, texts, or documents that show you were doing your job properly and that the 'violation' was actually just you needing to pick up your child. 3. Get statements from coworkers if possible. If anyone can vouch for your work ethic or the situation that day, it could help. 4. Prepare your case. Write down a clear, concise explanation of what happened. Stick to the facts. 5. Consider getting legal help. Some nonprofits offer free legal aid for unemployment cases. 6. Be persistent. The ny unemployment system can be frustrating, but don't give up. 7. While you're fighting this, look into temporary assistance programs in your area. Food banks, rental assistance, etc. can help tide you over. 8. Keep job hunting. Document your search efforts as this can help your case. 9. If you're having trouble reaching someone at unemployment, try using claimyr.com. It costs a bit, but it can get you through to a real person faster. Hang in there. It's a tough situation, but you've got options. Don't let them bully you out of the benefits you deserve.

have you tried goin to your local unemployment office? sometimes face-to-face works better than tryin to deal with everything online or over the phone

•I didn't even know that was an option. Do you just walk in or do you need an appointment?

•Most places you can just walk in, but might be a wait. Call ahead if you can, some offices do appointments now cause of covid and stuff.

This is why we need stronger worker protections! Companies shouldn't be able to just fire people for BS reasons and then block unemployment. The whole system needs an overhaul.

•Check out some temp agencies. They often have short-term retail gigs, especially with the holidays coming up. Might not be management, but it's something!

•Try claimyr.com if you're really stuck. It costs a bit but it got me through to a real person when nothing else worked.

Sounds like wrongful termination to me. You might wanna talk to a lawyer, not just for unemployment but to see if you have a case against your former employer.
