Backdating UI claims - no callback yet. Scam or normal wait time?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to backdate my unemployment claims but I'm getting worried. I paid for a service to help me get through to an agent, but no one has called me yet. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to wonder if I got scammed.

Dont worry, its probably not a scam. The unemployment office is just super backed up right now. It can take forever to get through to someone. I had to wait like 3 hours on hold last week!

3 hours? You got lucky! I was on hold for 6 hours and then they hung up on me š”

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. The system is so broken that we have to pay extra just to use it? š

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Backdating claims can be tricky. Make sure you have all your documentation ready when you do get through. They'll want proof of why you couldn't file earlier.

OP, how long have you been waiting for a callback? Sometimes it can take a while, especially if you're trying during peak hours.

Here's what you need to know about backdating unemployment claims: ā¢ You typically need a good reason for not filing on time (e.g., illness, technical issues, misinformation) ā¢ Gather any evidence that supports your reason for late filing ā¢ Be prepared to explain week-by-week why you were eligible during the backdated period ā¢ Know that there might be limits on how far back you can backdate ā¢ If denied, you have the right to appeal When you do get through, be polite but firm. The agents deal with frustrated people all day, so a little kindness can go a long way. Good luck!

Do you know if medical records count as evidence for illness? I was sick with covid but didn't get tested.

Yes, medical records definitely help! Even if you didn't get tested, any documentation from a doctor about your symptoms or advice to quarantine can be useful.

Pro tip: if you do get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-up. Sometimes they'll give you one and it can save you from starting over next time.
