If you run into issues with the online system or your claim gets stuck in adjudication, I had success using claimyr.com to actually get through to a NYS Department of Labor agent by phone. They have this video demo (https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI) that shows how it works. Saved me weeks of trying to call on my own when my claim was pending for forever.
If you're having trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor about any 1099-G issues or discrepancies, I had good luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting busy signals when I needed to verify my tax documents.
Low unemployment doesn't automatically mean YOU will find a job quickly. Regional differences matter a lot, and some industries are still struggling. The effects of low unemployment include increased worker bargaining power and wage growth, but job search can still be challenging depending on your field and location.
I've been trying to get through to someone at NYS Department of Labor for weeks about my own claim and it's impossible! The phone system is a nightmare and I keep getting hung up on. Has anyone found a way to actually talk to a real person there?
I had the same problem until I found this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to NYS Department of Labor agents. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Basically they handle all the calling and waiting for you, then connect you when an agent picks up. Saved me hours of frustration trying to reach someone about my adjudication issue.

The unemployment system is designed to make you feel like you're failing even when you're doing everything right. Those statistics don't account for people who have to take jobs that pay way less than their previous position just to get off unemployment. NYS Department of Labor counts that as a 'success' but is it really?

•I understand the frustration but the data does show most people find comparable employment within 6 months. It's not perfect but the system does work for the majority of claimants.

Same boat here, been on UI for 10 weeks. My caseworker told me the average in NY is around 16 weeks but that varies a lot by field. What industry are you in?
