If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Just remember you HAVE to report every penny you make or they'll hit you with an overpayment later. I learned that the hard way when I didn't report a small cash job thinking it wouldn't matter. NYS Department of Labor doesn't mess around with unreported income.

Yikes, how did they find out about the cash job?

Cross-referencing with tax records from what I understand. They eventually catch everything so just be honest from the start.

Take the catering job! The worst thing you can do is sit around doing nothing. Even if it reduces your unemployment a little, you're gaining experience and networking. Plus you'll still be collecting something from NYS Department of Labor as long as your earnings aren't too high.

The whole system is ridiculous if you ask me. Why can't they just make a simple calculator that actually works? I spent three weeks trying to figure out my benefits and even the NYS Department of Labor rep I finally reached gave me different numbers than what showed up in my account.

Don't forget you can also check if you qualify for the alternate base period if your regular base period doesn't give you enough wages to qualify. That uses the most recent 4 quarters instead of the first 4 of the last 5.

Wait, I thought you had to wait until after your last paycheck or something? I've been putting off filing because my former employer said they're sending me a final check next week. Am I supposed to file before I get that?

You can file now and report that final paycheck when you do your first weekly claim. Don't wait for the paycheck - every day you delay is potential benefits lost. NYS Department of Labor expects you to report all earnings during your weekly claims anyway.

I had issues reaching NYS Department of Labor by phone when I needed to clarify something about my claim timing. If you run into the same problem, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an agent quickly. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Really helped when the phone lines were jammed and I kept getting disconnected.

never heard of that but honestly anything is better than sitting on hold for 3 hours just to get hung up on

I had the WORST time trying to get through to NYS Department of Labor when I was dealing with a similar situation. Kept calling and either got busy signals or got disconnected after waiting forever. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to real agents at NYS Department of Labor. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Saved me so much frustration and I was able to get my partial claim sorted out properly.

never heard of that before, sounds too good to be true tbh

I was skeptical too but honestly it worked. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get things cleared up, especially with partial claims where the rules can be confusing.

The whole system is so backwards! Why should someone have to lose their job completely to get help when they're struggling with reduced hours? It's like they want people to choose between having some work or getting assistance. At least partial unemployment exists but they don't exactly advertise it well.

+1 the NYS Department of Labor website is confusing as hell about this stuff

0 coins

wait so if my company has had a lot of layoffs does that mean they pay more in unemployment taxes?? that seems backwards since they're already struggling financially

0 coins

Yes, companies with higher claim rates do pay higher unemployment insurance tax rates. It's designed to incentivize employers to maintain stable employment when possible.

The whole system is set up so individual employers can't retaliate against workers for filing claims since they're not paying benefits directly. NYS Department of Labor keeps that separation for good reason.
