When do MA DUA unemployment benefits end? Started in March, can't reach office

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out when my unemployment benefits are supposed to end. I started receiving them back in March and I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last. Anyone know how I can find out? I tried calling the unemployment office but I've been on hold forever. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they list the end date there. If not, you might need to do some math based on your weekly benefit amount and the total amount you were approved for.

Great suggestion! I found my end date listed in my account summary.

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds crazy but I got a response within a day when I faxed my question lol. Sometimes old school works 🤷‍♂️

Hey OP, have you tried checking your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in your account.

Ugh, calling the unemployment office is THE WORST. I swear they never pick up. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. Good luck!

I know right? It's like they dont even want to help us. So frustrating 😤

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I got through once doing that!

It's true, calling early usually means less wait time.

Guys, I think we're approaching this all wrong. Instead of calling unemployment, we should start our own country with blackjack and... unemployment benefits that actually work. Who's with me? 🃏🌴

Sign me up! As long as there's no hold music in this new utopia 😂

Can we have a rule that all customer service reps must respond within 5 minutes? I'm in!

Has anyone else noticed that the on-hold music is actually a subliminal message telling us to give up and become TikTok influencers? 🎵🤳

Bruh, I feel you. The whole system is a mess. I've been trying to figure out my benefits for months. It's like they're speaking a different language half the time 🤡

I can totally relate to the confusion. It's like they have a secret unemployment lingo.

I swear, dealing with unemployment is harder than trying to fold a fitted sheet. At least the sheet doesn't put you on hold for 3 hours. 🛏️😤

Lmao truth. I'd rather wrestle an alligator than deal with EDD customer service

Pro tip: use the fitted sheet to make a fort while you're on hold. Might as well be comfy! 🏰

Plot twist: what if we're all just characters in a giant unemployment-themed video game, and the final boss is the EDD phone system? 🎮👾

Hang in there, OP! We're all in the same leaky unemployment boat. Just keep paddling and eventually we'll reach the shores of... idk, maybe a job market that doesn't suck? 🚣‍♂️💦

Serious answer: Your benefits typically last for 26 weeks from the date you first filed, unless there are federal extensions in place. Check your state's unemployment website for specifics, as it can vary.

This. Also, keep an eye out for any letters they send you. Sometimes important info gets lost in the mail.

If you're really struggling to get through to the unemployment office, Claimyr can be a good resource. They have a proven track record, though the $20 fee might not be for everyone. It's great for those in a bind who need answers quickly. However, don't forget to exhaust free options first, like checking the online portal or emailing your state's unemployment office.

I heard a rumor that if you say "representative" three times fast while on hold, an agent magically appears. Worth a shot, right? 🧙‍♂️📞✨

Guys, I think I cracked the code. You gotta call while standing on one foot, wearing your lucky socks, and holding a four-leaf clover. 60% of the time, it works every time. 🍀🧦

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/ok4BhTU0_EI

$20? Sounds like a scam to me. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment?

@OP It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line.

@profile 6 I get it, but for me it was worth it. I'd wasted so much time trying to get through on my own.

I used Claimyr too and it worked for me, but I understand why some might hesitate to pay.

Here's what you need to know about unemployment benefit duration: 1. Regular state benefits usually last 26 weeks in most states. 2. Federal extensions like PEUC can add more weeks, but these programs change. 3. Your specific end date depends on when you started and any extensions you qualify for. 4. Check your state's unemployment website for the most up-to-date info. 5. If you can't find it online, you'll need to speak with a rep to get your specific end date. Remember, benefit duration can change based on state and federal laws, so what was true a few months ago might not be the same now.

This is super helpful. Do you know if the 26 weeks are consecutive or can they be spread out?

0 coins

-

7M

Logan Greenburg

Generally, the 26 weeks are consecutive unless you have a valid reason to pause, but it's best to confirm with your state's guidelines.
