EDD Delays: Stuck waiting for unemployment benefits. Any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment benefits and I'm not sure what to do. I've been waiting for a while now and haven't received anything. Has anyone else experienced delays or problems with their unemployment? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be really appreciated.

Ugh, I feel you. The unemployment system is such a mess right now. I've been waiting for weeks and still nothing. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get help. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho š

Calling is a nightmare! I spent 3 hours on hold yesterday and then got disconnected. This is ridiculous!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins of waiting that way.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! The system is so broken š”

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. Worth every penny tbh.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time for the call?

Sure! You choose a time slot, and they start calling then. When they get an agent, your phone rings and you're connected. No more endless hold music!

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to know: ā¢ First, double-check that you've filled out all forms correctly. One tiny mistake can delay everything. ā¢ Keep a record of all your communications with the unemployment office. Dates, times, who you spoke to - everything. ā¢ If you're not getting anywhere by phone, try reaching out through their online portal or social media. ā¢ Contact your local representative. Sometimes they can help push things along. ā¢ Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but don't let your claim fall through the cracks. Remember, you're not alone in this. Hang in there!

Contacting my rep actually worked for me! Took about a week, but they got things moving.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting for 2 months now. Starting to feel like I'm never gonna see that money. How are we supposed to survive like this?

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to local news? Sometimes public pressure helps.

Hadn't thought of that. Might give it a shot if things don't improve soon. Thanks for the idea!

Easy for you to say. Some of us have bills to pay and families to feed. Check your privilege, dude.

Quick question - does anyone know if gig workers are eligible for unemployment now? I've been hearing conflicting things.

Yeah, under the new PUA program, gig workers should be eligible. But the application process might be different.

This whole situation is a joke. The government takes our taxes no problem, but when we need help, suddenly everything's broken. Make it make sense š¤”
