MA DUA: Endless phone loop frustration - Tips to reach a real person?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get ahold of someone at the unemployment office but I keep getting stuck in this endless phone loop. It's driving me crazy! I've been trying for days and can't seem to reach a real person. Has anyone had any luck getting through? Any tips or tricks would be really appreciated. I'm starting to feel pretty desperate here.

Hearing success stories is encouraging. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing? I heard it might be faster.

Ava Kim

What year is it, 1995? 📠 But for real, might be worth a shot at this point

0 coins

I tried faxing and it worked pretty well actually. Just make sure to follow up with a phone call (if you can get through lol

0 coins

I didn't think faxing was still a thing, but desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

0 coins

Pro tip: if you do get through, ask for a callback number in case you get disconnected. Saved my butt when the call dropped after 2 hours on hold 🙏

0 coins

That's brilliant! I'll definitely do that if I ever manage to speak to a human

You're the real MVP for this tip 🏆

0 coins

This is such a practical tip. It relieves the stress of losing your spot in line.

Update: I've been trying all day and still no luck. I'm starting to lose hope here. Does anyone know if there's a way to submit a complaint or something?

0 coins

Hang in there, OP! It's frustrating but don't give up. Have you tried the comma trick that @profile 9 mentioned?

0 coins

You can file a complaint with the state labor board, but tbh I doubt it'll do much. The whole system is overwhelmed rn

0 coins

Maybe try reaching out to local news stations? Sometimes they cover stories like these and it helps put pressure on the system.

0 coins

I'm bout ready to camp outside the EDD office until someone helps me. Who's with me? ⛺️

0 coins

Lol I'm down. We can start a whole tent city of frustrated unemployed people

0 coins

Careful, they might just hire you to answer the phones 🤣

Sometimes drastic actions get the most attention. But remember to stay safe!

Here’s an in-depth look at utilizing services like Claimyr and balancing costs with benefits: Claimyr provides a much-needed service by simplifying the process of reaching a real person at the unemployment office. It can be a lifesaver for those who have spent days, if not weeks, in phone loops without progress. However, it's important to weigh the cost, as it does charge $20 per call. Some users have found it incredibly helpful and well worth the price for the time and stress it saves. Others feel that this cost is prohibitive, especially if multiple calls are necessary. It's also wise to consider the fine print and ensure there are no hidden charges. While Claimyr offers a solution, exploring state representative assistance, utilizing dialing tricks like the 'comma trick', or even adjusting call times might also yield results without the added expense. Balancing these options with personal circumstances can help decide if Claimyr or similar services are the right move. Ultimately, persistence and strategic calling can sometimes be just as effective.

yall ever think about how much time we waste trying to get through? like, we could learn a whole new language or something in the time we spend on hold smh

0 coins

Lol for real. I've become an expert at phone Tetris 🤣

0 coins

Maybe we should all learn coding instead and build a better system ourselves 🤔

0 coins

Honestly, learning a new skill during this time sounds like a great idea. Turn the frustration into something productive!

Has anyone had any luck with the online portal? I keep getting error messages when I try to certify.

0 coins

The online portal is a joke. Half the time it's down for 'maintenance' 🙄

0 coins

Try clearing your cache and cookies. Sometimes that helps with the errors.

0 coins

I had to switch browsers to get it to work. Firefox worked better for me than Chrome did.

0 coins

Anyone else notice how the hold music is always some cheery jazz? Like, read the room EDD 🎷🙃

0 coins

Omg yes! It's so irritating. I've got that tune stuck in my head 24/7 now

0 coins

Plot twist: it's actually a form of psychological warfare to make us hang up 😂

0 coins

It's almost like they're trying to calm us down, but it just makes it worse.

0 coins

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

0 coins

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

0 coins

Just google '[your state] find my representative'. They usually have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!

0 coins

My local rep's office was surprisingly helpful when I contacted them. They managed to get my issue escalated pretty quickly.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a Kafka novel? 🤡 Trying to get unemployment benefits is like being trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare lmao

0 coins

For real tho 😂 Sometimes I wonder if there even are real people working there or if it's just a bunch of robots playing a cruel joke on us

0 coins

Kafka? More like a Black Mirror episode 💀

0 coins

It's definitely frustrating, but remember we're all in this together. Stay positive and keep trying!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/ok4BhTU0_EI

0 coins

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

0 coins

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

0 coins

I know it sounds crazy, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

0 coins

How long did you have to wait after using this service?

0 coins

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to do anything. The service called me when an agent was on the line.

0 coins

Wow, that's not bad at all. Might have to give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

0 coins

I read mixed reviews on this service. Some people say it works great, while others had issues with billing. Just be sure to read the fine print if you decide to try it.

I swear, dealing with EDD is harder than my actual job was. No wonder I'm stressed all the time 😫

0 coins

Preach! 🙌 It's like a full-time job just trying to get the benefits we're entitled to

0 coins

Fr fr. My blood pressure has never been higher 📈

0 coins

Stress management techniques like deep breathing or meditation might help while you're dealing with EDD.

0 coins

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

0 coins

Yeah, I've tried that. Set my alarm for 7:55 AM and everything. Still no luck 😞

0 coins

Ugh, that sucks. Maybe try calling at different times throughout the day? Sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

0 coins

I got through once at around 1 PM. It might be worth trying off-peak hours when fewer people might be calling.

0 coins

Okay, listen up everyone. I've been dealing with EDD for months now and I've learned a few tricks. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call early, but not right when they open. Try around 10:30 AM. 2. Use the comma trick when dialing. Add commas between the numbers to create pauses that automatically navigate the menu for you. 3. If you get through to a tier 1 rep, be super nice but insist on speaking to a tier 2 rep if they can't help. 4. Keep detailed notes of every call, including rep names and ID numbers. 5. If all else fails, contact your state assembly member or senator. They have special lines to EDD. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

This is gold! Thanks for sharing your wisdom 🙏

0 coins

What's this comma trick you mentioned? How does it work exactly?

0 coins

@profile 11 The comma trick is where you add commas in your phone's dialer after the main number. Each comma creates a 2-second pause. So you can set it up to automatically input menu options. For example: 18003005616,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,2,4 This would call, wait for the menu, press 1, wait, then press 2, then 4.

0 coins

I tried the comma trick today, and it actually worked pretty well. Thanks for the tip! It definitely made navigating the menu easier.

0 coins

Welcome to the club, buddy. We're all in the same boat here. I've been trying for weeks and still no luck. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to a human 🙄

0 coins

It really feels that way sometimes! I heard staffing shortages are a big issue right now, which might be why it's so hard to get through.
