Nathan Buck

So I now have a few questions. How would I know if my back pay forms are processed and how long after should I expect a payment on my bank account?

I found a way to solve reaching Kentucky Unemployment representatives, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qxRN7KXtwg

Hi Nathan! Normally within 7 days but possibly sooner. Let us know how long it take you!

So they told me yesterday that my back pay forms were processed and to look for the payment on my payment history today. Hasn't shown up yet. Should I be worried?

1 coin

I wouldn’t worry yet, keep checking and if you don’t see anything by tomorrow give a call.

1 coin

Ok. This was at 2 pm yesterday

1 coin

So I'm assuming that it will show up at around 2 pm today?

1 coin

Possibly, it takes a while for their systems to update. If it’s not showing by 2 pm think about giving them a call. I wouldn’t panic yet, I’m sure it’s coming!

So I called yesterday, they told me that my back pay forms haven't been processed yet. They said to check back next week. Am I safe to assume that my status might update tonight going into tomorrow?

1 coin

Hi Nathan! You should see a status update by Monday I would assume. They said to check back next week, did they they give you a time frame? Maybe, 48-72 hours for the update? I'm sure it will update soon:

1 coin

Never gave me a time frame, all they said was to check next week. I'm getting kinda upset because I literally have bills that are due by this coming Wednesday that my back pay will help with

1 coin

Ok Nathan! I totally understand and I'm sorry your are having these issues. You should give them a call again next week for clarification. Maybe, on Tuesday if possible. Unfortunately with the you have to stay diligent because sometimes you get told different things by the representatives and it is very stressful. I totally understand. Try and hang in there!

To be honest, this past Thursday the representative told me that my back pay forms were submitted for processing and to give it a couple days. Then they told me to check it the next day to see if it shows up. I checked the next day, aka yesterday, and nothing changed. So I'm guessing that it will update tonight?

1 coin

The thing that gets me is this, when I called again yesterday, they told me that the forms haven't been processed yet and that a representative had been working on them for the past 2 days prior to yesterday. What does this mean?

2 coins

Hi Nathan:) As I mentioned before unfortunately the Representative's are usually not on the same page and it us unfortunately a common issue from what I see on a day to day basis. Log in to your tomorrow morning to see if there is an update. I'm not certain the system will update the status on the weekend. I speak with many people in your similar situation on a daily basis and try and tell them to stay positive and stay diligent that this will all work it's way out! Keep your head up!

According to what I know, the unemployment office in ky usually takes payment requests and calls on Sundays from 10 am to 9 pm so with that being said wouldn't my status update tonight going to tomorrow since they are open tomorrow?

1 coin

Hi Nathan! It’s possible it could update tonight, but it will likely not update until the next business day.

1 coin

So what time should I check to see if it updated tonight?

1 coin

I would just check after midnight but I’m thinking it will change on Monday. Let us know!

1 coin

So it didn't update last night, what time should I check it tonight to see if it updated?

1 coin

Hi Nathan! I would check tomorrow morning, if there is any issues my recommendation is for you to call again and clarify what the hold up may be at this time. So sorry you have to go through this at this time.

2 coins

Ok. Should I check it after midnight tonight?

What time do they update the website though?

So I called the unemployment office earlier today, they told me that a has been made and I was from unemployment but was eligible for pandemic unemployment. So this is what my status has been saying for the past week. Am I safe to assume that this might change soon since I'm on and not regular ui?

Hello Nathan! I'm so sorry that they have been giving you the run around. The above states that the above is PUA. Can you clarify your issue for me so I can help you better understand what you need assistance with?

1 coin

So earlier today I called them. They told me that I was from unemployment because I quit a job voluntarily, which isn't true. And I told them that too. They told me that I was eligible for pandemic unemployment and gave me the run around saying that I wasn't getting my back pay. But they said I was eligible for benefits, which is what my status is currently saying. Am I still getting my back pay due to that or is this a lost cause?

1 coin

You can definitely get back pay for

1 coin

That's what I thought. So basically the guy was giving me the run around. I knew that the guy was lying because he acted like he was having a bad day

1 coin

Even with you are not eligible if you voluntarily quit your job. You’re going to need to get that fixed and may need to come up with some proof of you getting laid off due to to be eligible. After you get that worked out you will definitely be eligible for backpay, so don’t give up.

1 coin

Yeah but I didn't voluntarily quit, they fired me for my availability

1 coin

Hi Nathan! So you need to this that they made. That is what I would do. Honestly, like I mentioned before the agents have different processes and are not all on the same level. On my end, I spoke to 5 different individuals with and they all told me something different. It is very unfortunate. Hang in there!

Nathan, I'm going through a similar situation with giving me different information each time I call. It's so frustrating when you have bills due and they keep giving you the runaround. Have you tried keeping detailed notes of who you spoke with and what they told you? Sometimes that helps when you call back and can reference specific conversations. Don't give up - you deserve those if you were terminated and didn't quit voluntarily!

Nathan, I've been following your situation and it sounds incredibly frustrating. The inconsistency between representatives is unfortunately all too common with KCC. Since you were terminated for availability issues and didn't voluntarily quit, you definitely have grounds to that decision. I'd recommend calling back and speaking to a different representative - sometimes you get someone more knowledgeable. Also, if you have any documentation from your employer about the termination (like a termination letter or even text messages), that could really help your case. Don't let them discourage you from getting the you're entitled to!

Nathan, I've been dealing with for months and I can tell you that the process Felicia mentioned is really important here. Since you were fired for availability issues (not a voluntary quit), you should absolutely have grounds for both regular and potentially benefits. I'd suggest calling back and specifically asking to speak with someone about filing an for the voluntary quit determination. Also, try to get any documentation from your former employer about the termination - even an email or text can help prove it wasn't voluntary. The back pay should definitely be available once you get this sorted out. Don't let one bad representative discourage you!

Nathan, I've been reading through your situation and it's really frustrating how inconsistent the representatives have been with you. Since you were terminated for availability issues rather than quitting voluntarily, you absolutely should be eligible for benefits. I'd strongly recommend documenting every conversation you have with - write down the date, time, representative's name if they give it, and exactly what they told you. This creates a paper trail that can help when you appeal. Also, if you have any written communication from your former employer about the termination (termination letter, email, even a text), gather all of that as evidence. The process might take some time, but don't give up - you deserve those and back pay!

Nathan, I've been following your thread and I'm so sorry you're dealing with this mess. I went through something similar last year where they initially said I quit voluntarily when I was actually laid off due to COVID. The key thing that helped me was getting documentation from my employer - even just a simple email stating I was terminated for scheduling conflicts, not voluntary resignation. Once I had that, I filed an and it got resolved within about 3 weeks. The back pay came through after that. Don't give up - you're entitled to those if you were fired and didn't quit! Keep calling and document everything like the others suggested.

Nathan, I've been following your situation and I'm so sorry you're going through this nightmare with KCC. I went through something very similar where they kept changing their story every time I called. Since you were terminated for availability issues and didn't voluntarily quit, you absolutely have grounds to their decision. I'd recommend calling back and asking specifically how to file an for the "voluntary quit" determination - that's completely wrong in your case. Also, try to get something in writing from your former employer confirming you were terminated, not that you quit. Even a simple email or text message can help prove your case. The inconsistency between representatives is maddening, but don't give up - you deserve those and back pay! Keep us posted on how it goes.
