Why does my 2024 IRS transcript show "Information Not Available" with an adjustment message while 2021-2023 show $0 balances?

I checked my IRS transcript today and noticed something odd in the Details By Year section. For tax years 2021, 2022, and 2023, it clearly shows I owe "$0.00" for each year. However, for 2024, instead of a dollar amount, it displays "INFO" with a note that says "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" under the Income Tax section. There's also an explanation stating "If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete." Here's exactly what I'm seeing in the Details By Year section: Tax Year 2024: INFO Income Tax: Your Information Is Not Available at This Time If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete. Tax Year 2023: $0.00 Tax Year 2022: $0.00 Tax Year 2021: $0.00 All my previous years (2021-2023) show clean "$0.00" balances as you can see, so I'm confused about why 2024 has this unavailable status with the "INFO" indicator. Does anyone know what this actually means? Do I need to verify something with the IRS, or is this related to some kind of account adjustment I might have requested without realizing it? I haven't made any conscious requests for adjustments that I'm aware of. The message is specifically showing up in the "Details By Year" section of my transcript. Has anyone else encountered this "INFO" status instead of a dollar amount, and what did it end up meaning in your case?

The transcript details show a clear pattern - you have confirmed $0.00 balances for tax years 2021, 2022, and 2023, indicating you're fully paid up for those years. For 2024, there's a specific informational notice instead of a balance, stating "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" with an additional qualifier about account adjustments. This unavailable status for 2024 typically indicates one of several scenarios: 1. Recent filing: Your 2024 return is still being processed in the IRS system 2. Pending adjustment: There's an active amendment or correction being reviewed 3. System update: The IRS is conducting routine account updates or verification The presence of the adjustment message specifically suggests there might be some form of account modification in progress. The clean $0.00 balances for previous years (2021-2023) show good account standing, so this temporary status for 2024 is likely just a processing phase rather than a concern. Given the normal processing timelines, you should see updated information within 2-3 weeks. If the status persists beyond that timeframe, it would be worth contacting the IRS directly for clarification.

how long should someone wait before calling the IRS about this?

Generally 21 days from filing date. But honestly calling rarely helps with processing delays 🤷‍♂️

100% legit! Used it myself last week. It basically reads your transcript and explains everything in plain english, even predicts refund dates 💯

Its probably nothing to worry about. This happens alot early in the tax season when returns are still processing. Just keep checking every few days

I had this exact same issue last month! The "INFO" status with the adjustment message usually means your 2024 return is still working its way through their system. Since you filed recently and your previous years show clean $0 balances, this is most likely just normal processing delays rather than any actual problem with your account. I'd give it another week or two before worrying - mine cleared up automatically and showed the proper balance once processing completed.

thanks for sharing your experience! that's really reassuring to hear it resolved on its own. how long did it take for your balance to show up properly after you first saw the INFO status?

Mine took about 10 days from when I first noticed the INFO status to when it updated with the actual balance. Just kept checking every few days and one morning it was finally there showing my refund amount. The key thing is that your other years are clean so there's no underlying account issues.

I've seen this "INFO" status quite a bit this tax season - it's definitely more common than usual. The fact that your 2021-2023 years all show $0.00 is actually a good sign because it means your account history is clean and there aren't any underlying compliance issues. The adjustment message for 2024 is likely just their standard language when a return is still being processed or validated in their system. One thing to keep in mind is that even simple returns can trigger this status if there were any data matching issues (like W-2 forms not fully updated in their system yet) or if you claimed certain credits that require additional verification. Since we're still early in tax season, their processing volumes are high and everything is moving slower than normal. I'd suggest checking your transcript again in about a week. If it's still showing "INFO" after 3 weeks from your filing date, that's when you might want to call their customer service line, though as others mentioned, they'll probably just tell you to wait longer anyway.

This is super helpful context! I hadn't thought about the data matching aspect - that could definitely explain why some returns get held up even when they seem straightforward. Makes me feel better knowing this is more common this year and not just something weird with my specific situation. I'll definitely wait the full 3 weeks before calling since it sounds like that's the realistic timeline.
