Filed Jan 31st: Why Does IRS Account Show "Information Not Available" For 2024 While Previous Years Show $0.00?

I filed my taxes on January 31st and when I check my account under "Details By Year" it shows "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" for 2024. When I look at the balance breakdown, my previous tax years 2023 and 2022 both show $0.00 balance, but for 2024 it just has "INFO" with a message stating "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" under Income Tax. There's also a note saying "If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete." Not sure what this means or why I'm seeing this message. Here's exactly what my screen shows when I log in: Make a payment Frequently Asked Questions About Balances Details By Year Tax Year You Owe - 2024 INFO i Income Tax i Your Information Is Not Available at This Time If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete. 2023 $0.00 2022 $0.00 As you can see, the previous years 2023 and 2022 clearly show zero balances, but 2024 is giving me this unavailable message. I didn't request any adjustments that I'm aware of, so I'm confused about why my information isn't available. I expected to see either a balance if I owe, or a zero if my return was processed and refund issued. Has anyone else encountered this "INFO" status instead of an actual balance for 2024? Is this normal for recently filed returns, or does this indicate some kind of problem with my filing? How long should I expect to see this message before my actual balance information appears?

The IRS account screen shows three tax years: 2024, 2023, and 2022. Your 2023 and 2022 tax years display clear $0.00 balances, indicating you have no outstanding tax obligations for those years. For 2024, you're seeing an "INFO" status instead of a dollar amount, along with the message "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time." This status is standard for recently filed returns, especially since you filed on January 31st. The system displays this placeholder message during the initial processing phase of your return. The additional note about account adjustments is a generic message that appears with this status - it doesn't necessarily mean you've requested an adjustment. The "Details By Year" section you're seeing is the IRS's way of tracking your tax obligations chronologically. Each year will eventually show either a balance due or $0.00 once processing is complete. Since your previous years show zero balances, you're in good standing for past tax periods. Continue checking your account every few days - the "INFO" status will update to a specific dollar amount (or $0.00) once your 2024 return completes processing.

ok phew! was worried something was wrong. How long does it usually take to show up?

0 coins

Usually takes 2-3 weeks for your account to update, but could be longer during peak filing season

Tax preparer here - This is totally expected for early filers. The IRS started accepting returns on Jan 29th, so your return is still in the initial processing phase. Give it some time. If you want real-time updates and analysis, I highly recommend using taxr.ai - it's a game changer for understanding exactly where your return stands and when to expect updates. My clients love it cause it gives super specific timeline predictions.

thx for the tip! just tried taxr.ai and wow... way clearer than trying to figure this out myself

This is completely normal! I filed on Jan 30th and saw the exact same "INFO" message for about 10 days before it updated to show my actual refund amount. The IRS systems are definitely running slower this year - seems like they're processing returns in batches rather than continuously. Don't stress about the "adjustment" message either, that's just their standard disclaimer that shows up during processing. Your account will update once they finish reviewing your return, usually within 2-3 weeks for e-filed returns.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing. The batch processing makes sense - probably why we're all seeing similar delays this year. Did your refund amount match what you expected when it finally updated?

I'm in the exact same situation! Filed on January 30th and seeing that same "INFO" status with the "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" message. It's actually pretty comforting to see so many others experiencing this - makes me feel like it's just a normal part of their processing system rather than something wrong with my specific return. The fact that your 2022 and 2023 years show clean $0.00 balances is a good sign that you're in good standing with the IRS. I've been checking my account daily (probably too often lol) but sounds like I should just be patient and wait for the system to catch up. Thanks for posting this - really helps to know we're all in the same boat!

Same here! Filed Jan 31st and been refreshing way too much 😅 It's definitely reassuring to see we're all dealing with this together. I was getting paranoid that I messed something up on my return, but sounds like it's just the IRS being the IRS. Guess patience isn't my strong suit when it comes to tax season lol

I'm seeing the exact same thing! Filed on January 29th (literally the first day they started accepting returns) and my 2024 shows that same "INFO" status while my previous years show $0.00. I was getting worried too because I've never seen this before - usually it just shows a balance or refund amount pretty quickly. But reading through everyone's comments here, it sounds like this is just how their system works now for the initial processing phase. It's actually kind of relieving to know this is happening to basically everyone who filed early this year. The IRS must have changed something in their system display because I don't remember seeing this placeholder message in previous years. Guess we all just need to sit tight and wait for the real numbers to show up!

Exactly! I filed on Jan 30th and was totally confused when I saw this "INFO" thing instead of actual numbers. Never seen it before either - usually it's pretty straightforward. Reading all these comments makes me feel so much better knowing it's not just me! Sounds like they definitely changed their system this year. At least we know we're not alone in the waiting game 😊
