The trace number on SBTPG is similar to what you'd see with direct deposits from banks - it's not as visible as you'd expect. Just like how Chase hides their transaction IDs in the statement details, SBTPG tucks it away in the disbursement section. I'm a bit worried that so many people are having trouble with this... seems like they could make it more obvious?

OMG I was literally going CRAZY trying to find this stupid number last week! š” I spent hours clicking through every page on their portal and almost threw my laptop across the room! When I finally found it buried in the transaction details I felt so dumb but also mad they make it so hard to find!

Did you have to call them to get your trace number? I've been looking in my account for days and still can't find it. Last year I had Republic Bank and it was right there on the main page.

Thanks for the banking comparison - that actually helps a lot. The IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/get-your-refund-status) mentions trace numbers but doesn't explain where to find them on third-party processors. I'm concerned this might delay a lot of people tracking their refunds.

I was actually looking for this same information recently and was somewhat surprised by how difficult it was to locate. If you're trying to find your trace number, you probably need to look in the disbursement details section of your SBTPG account, though the exact location might vary depending on whether you're using the mobile app or desktop version. I eventually found mine by downloading the PDF statement and checking the transaction details there. You might want to try https://taxr.ai to help interpret your tax transcript if you're having issues - it can usually identify the trace number from your IRS transcript, which is sometimes easier than finding it through SBTPG.

Is that site actually reliable? I'm... hesitant to use another service when SBTPG already has my info. Seems like we shouldn't need another tool just to find a number that should be clearly displayed.

I've used taxr.ai for transcript analysis when I couldn't make sense of all the codes. The trace number appears in your IRS transcript as a DLN (Document Locator Number) which is essentially what you need for tracking. Much easier than digging through SBTPG's confusing interface.

You need to find this ASAP if you're tracking your refund! Here's where to look: ā¢ Log in to your SBTPG account ā¢ Go to "Tax Year 2023" (or current year) ā¢ Click on "Disbursement Details" ā¢ Look for "ACH Trace ID" or "Trace Number" ā¢ It's usually a 15-17 digit number If you still can't find it, try https://claimyr.com - they can connect you directly to SBTPG customer service in minutes instead of waiting hours on hold. I had to call them last week to get my trace # and the wait time was ridiculous until I used their service!

Most people are looking in the wrong place. I've been through this before and here's what actually works: Step 1: Don't look under "Refund Status" - that never shows the trace number Step 2: Go to "Payment Details" or "Disbursement Information" Step 3: Look for a section called "ACH Information" or "Direct Deposit Details" Step 4: The trace number is usually labeled as "Trace ID" or "ACH Trace Number" Step 5: If you still don't see it, download the PDF statement - it's almost always there I don't think there's a simple solution here - SBTPG's interface is just poorly designed.

I followed these steps but still don't see it. Does it matter if I check today (April 2nd) versus waiting until after my expected deposit date of April 5th? Would the trace number only appear after they've actually sent the money?

I'm not convinced SBTPG even provides trace numbers to all users. I've examined their API documentation and user interface, and the trace number visibility appears to be contingent on several factors including the refund status, disbursement method, and whether fees were deducted. The ACH trace number (technically an NACHA trace identifier) might only be visible post-disbursement, not during processing.

Actually, SBTPG absolutely does provide trace numbers for every transaction - they're required to by banking regulations. The trace number is a 15-digit identifier that appears exactly 24-48 hours after your refund is approved. I was surprised too by how complicated they make this! The number is located in precisely 1 of 3 places: either under the "Payment Details" section (73% of users), in the downloadable PDF statement (22% of users), or in the transaction history table at the very bottom of the page (5% of users).

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I've been searching everywhere and this is the first time someone has actually given specific locations to check. Going to look at all three places now!
