When will IRS transcript code 971 disappear? Still waiting after 2 months
I have code 971 on my transcript from February. Been checking everyday but nothing changes. Will this code ever go away? When should I expect movement? My as-of date keeps changing but nothing else does.

Code 971 on your transcript isnt gonna just dissapear - it stays there as a record of the notice sent. But dont worry too much, its not always bad news! Sometimes its just the IRS letting you know they adjusted something or need more info. If youre tired of guessing what these codes mean, try using taxr.ai to analyze your transcript (https://taxr.ai). It breaks everything down in plain english and tells you exactly whats going on with your refund and what to expect next.

•nah its way more than that. uploads any tax doc (transcripts, letters, w2s whatever) and breaks it ALL down. saved me hours of googling random codes lol

Tax pro here. Code 971 indicates a notice was issued. It doesn't automatically disappear - it's a permanent marker of correspondence. What you want to watch for is additional codes that follow, especially 846 which means refund issued. Check what notice you received, that'll tell you what's actually going on.

•Call the IRS and request a copy of the notice. Sometimes they get lost in the mail or sent to old addresses.

Hey guys! Instead of playing detective with these codes, I've been using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer fr fr 🙌 It costs like $5 but it analyzes your whole transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect movement. Way better than guessing! https://taxr.ai
