When does the IRS website update refund status? Daily update schedule?

I keep checking WMR and my transcripts every day but nothing changes. Does anyone know what days the IRS usually updates their system? I feel like im checking 20 times a day and getting nowhere.

The IRS updates their systems overnight, typically between 3am-6am EST. WMR (Where's My Refund) updates daily, but transcripts usually update on Wednesday nights and Friday nights. Your best bet is to check early morning on Thursday and Saturday.

Not entirely true - my transcript updated on a Tuesday last week. Its pretty random these days tbh

You're right, there can be exceptions. The IRS systems aren't exactly known for being consistent 🤡

Hey guys, I was in the same boat checking constantly until someone here recommended taxr.ai - it's this tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly when to expect updates and what's actually happening. Only costs a buck but saved me hours of obsessive checking. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? Sounds too good to be true

100% legit. It showed me I had a 570 code that was gonna resolve in 2 weeks and it was spot on

Pro tip: the cycle code on your transcript can tell you your update schedule. Look at the last 2 digits - 05 means Thursday updates, 03 means Wednesday, etc. But honestly just use taxr.ai and save yourself the headache of trying to decode all this stuff

Been there! The obsessive checking is real 😅 From my experience, WMR typically updates overnight between 3-6am EST like others mentioned, but transcripts are more unpredictable. I've seen updates on random days throughout the week. The cycle code thing is helpful if you can figure it out, but honestly the IRS system has been pretty inconsistent lately. My advice? Pick one time per day to check (maybe early morning) and try to resist the urge to refresh constantly - it'll just drive you crazy and won't make your refund come any faster!

This is such good advice! I definitely fell into the obsessive checking trap too - was literally refreshing every few hours thinking it would somehow make a difference 😂 You're totally right about picking one time per day, wish I had done that from the start instead of driving myself nuts!
