Anyone know when the next IRS transcript update happens this week?

I filed my taxes in mid-March and the WMR tool still shows "processing". I checked my transcript last Friday and there was literally no change from the week before. I'm expecting around $3,700 this year and really need it for some car repairs. My friend who filed in early April already got her refund which is super frustrating. Does anyone know when the IRS updates transcripts this week? Is it every night or just certain days? I've heard some people mention Wednesdays and Fridays but idk if that's accurate. I'm so tired of checking every day and seeing nothing change.

Gabriel Freeman

The IRS typically updates transcripts overnight between Thursday and Friday mornings, with another update cycle between Tuesday and Wednesday. The WMR tool can lag behind your actual transcript status by several days. For a $3,700 refund, you're in the manual review threshold which can add time. If you've verified your identity and there are no issues with your return, you should see movement in the next couple weeks. Look for an 846 code on your transcript - that's the refund issued code with your deposit date. Most returns filed in March should be processed by now unless there's an issue requiring manual review. If you have access to your transcript, check for specific codes that might indicate why there's a delay.

Thanks for the info! I don't see any weird codes, just the basic stuff from when I filed. No 570 or 971 codes that people mention. Just stuck in limbo I guess 😩

Not entirely accurate. The update cycles are more frequent than that. There are multiple cycles throughout the week. Usually your cycle code on transcript (last 2 digits) can tell you your update day.

You're right about the multiple cycles - I was just giving the most common/major ones. Good point about the cycle code!

I was in a similar situation and was getting so frustrated trying to decipher my transcript. I finally stopped playing detective and used taxr.ai to help me understand what was going on with my refund. The tool analyzed my transcript and explained everything in plain English - saved me hours of research and stress! It even predicted when I'd get my money. Honestly a game-changer if youre confused by all these codes. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It basically analyzes all your transcript codes and dates and explains what stage you're at in processing. It also shows what's normal vs what might be causing delays. WAY better than googling random codes for hours trying to figure it out yourself.

OMG I JUST TRIED THIS AND IT'S AMAZING!! It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed (something about a math error I didn't even realize) and when I should expect it. Why isn't everyone using this?? This needs to be pinned in every tax group forreal!

I was in the exact same boat, waiting forever with no updates. After weeks of frustration I used the Claimyr calling app (claimyr.com) and finally got a real person from the IRS on the phone. They told me my return was in the errors department but just needed a quick review. Two days after talking to them my transcript updated with a DDD! Best money I've spent this year considering I was about to lose my mind checking WMR every hour lol

another "miracle solution" huh? πŸ™„ does this actually work?

It literally just helps you get through the IRS phone system without spending hours on hold. They call you back when an agent is available. After 6 weeks of getting busy signals and disconnects I was desperate enough to try anything.

I used it too. Got through to someone in like 20 minutes after trying for daysss on my own. They actually give you specific instructions for which options to select for your issue.

Updates happen based on your cycle code. Check the top of your transcript - if your cycle code ends in 05, you update Thursday nights/Friday mornings. If it ends in 02, updates happen Monday night/Tuesday morning. Some people get daily updates but most follow these weekly patterns.

Honestly, the IRS is so backed up rn its hard to predict anything. My return took 11 weeks to process and I filed in February. The updates ARE on a schedule but returns getting ASSIGNED to those update batches is completely random. Keep checking your transcript but maybe just once a week to save your sanity.

11 weeks?? That's insane! I'm on week 7 right now and already losing it

ya and the most frustrating part is that there was NOTHING wrong with my return. They just sat on it for 2.5 months and then suddenly one day - boom, refund issued. No explanation for the delay.

If you don't see any hold codes (570/971) on your transcript, you're probly just in the normal processing queue. My transcript was totally empty until literally the day before my refund was issued lol. I filed March 1st and got my deposit on April 14. Sometimes the system just doesnt update until everything is done.

That gives me a little hope! Did your WMR bars disappear during this time?

Freya Collins

Yep! Bars disappeared around week 3 and just showed the generic "still processing" message until it suddenly changed to approved.

The whole "check your transcript" advice is honestly useless for a lot of people because the transcripts dont update until AFTER your return is processed. I checked mine obsessively for weeks - nothing. Then suddenly one day everything appeared at once including my DDD. The system is completely broken.

You might be getting delayed because of the refund amount. Anything over $3,000 sometimes triggers additional review. Does your Where's My Refund status mention anything about delays or is it still just "processing"?

-

Debra Bai

Just says "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available." Super helpful, right? πŸ™„

Classic IRS helpfulness! πŸ˜‚ But seriously that message usually means there's nothing actively wrong - you're just in the queue. Mid-March filing puts you right at the tail end of the rush season.

If ur seriously concerned, call the irs directly. I was waiting 2 months with no explanation, finally got thru after like 2 hours on hold and found out they needed additional verification of my identity. Fixed it on the call and had my refund 2 weeks later. some issues don't show up on transcripts.

LOL good luck getting through to them tho. I tried calling 37 times last week and couldn't even get into the hold queue. Always got the "we're too busy, try again later" message and disconnected.

ya thats why i said "after 2 hours on hold" 🀣 gotta call right when they open at 7am and have the entire day free lmao

This is why I used Claimyr when I needed to talk to someone. They got me through to an agent without the 2+ hour wait. Totally worth it when you're desperate for answers.

Daily IRS transcript checker here πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ The system updates overnight, but which night depends on your cycle code. Major updates happen Thursday nights and show Friday mornings. But there are daily updates too. I check mine obsessively around 6am and have definitely seen changes on random days.

have you verified your identity with ID.me? if not, they might have sent you a letter that got lost. that happened to me and i was waiting for months not realizing i needed to verify. check if you can access your transcripts online - if not, thats usually the issue.

Yeah I can see my transcripts so I'm verified. Just nothing happening on them πŸ˜‘

I've been studying the IRS update patterns for years (sad hobby, I know). There are actually DAILY transcript updates happening in batches: - Monday morning: cycle 01 - Tuesday morning: cycle 02 (medium update) - Wednesday morning: cycle 03 - Thursday morning: cycle 04 - Friday morning: cycle 05 (MAJOR update) Most people are on either 05 (Friday) or 02 (Tuesday). You can tell which one you are by looking at the cycle code on your transcript - the last two digits tell you your cycle.

Yes, check Friday morning around 6am EST. That's when the overnight update is complete. Good luck!

Every year we go through this same agonizing process and every year the IRS pretends like they're going to fix it. at this point I just expect my refund in june no matter when I file. the system needs to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.

WAIT I just had a thought - did you claim EITC or ACTC? Because those credits automatically delay processing until at least mid-February, and then put you in a slower processing queue. My sister was in that boat and didn't get her refund until May even though she filed in January.

0 coins

-

Debra Bai

Nope, didn't claim either of those! Just a simple return with W2 income and student loan interest deduction. Nothing complicated.

Huh, that's weird then. Usually simple returns go through pretty quick. Something must have flagged it for additional review. Check your mail carefully - sometimes they send letters that don't show up on transcripts.

I got tired of trying to decode all the transcript stuff myself and used taxr.ai to help me understand what was happening with my return. It explained all the codes and gave me a timeline prediction that was spot on. So much easier than trying to figure it out yourself https://taxr.ai

I actually tried it too after seeing it mentioned here last week. Pretty cool tbh. It showed me I had a math error adjustment I didn't even realize. Better than the IRS's own tools.

I went through this exact situation last month!!! I ended up calling the IRS using Claimyr (claimyr.com) because I couldn't wait any longer. Found out they needed a document I had no idea about. Once I faxed it over my refund was processed in a week. talking to a real person saved me weeks of more waiting.

How much does that service cost? Is it worth it?

For me it was totally worth it - I was able to fix my issue in one call instead of waiting who knows how much longer. And my refund was way more than what I paid for the service so it was a no-brainer.

Have you checked SBTPG if you paid your filing fees through your refund? Sometimes the money is sitting there but the WMR tool doesn't update. Happened to me last year.

I know waiting sucks but from all the tax forums I follow, March filers are just now starting to see movement. The IRS is still catching up from all the returns they got in January/February (which were delayed because of the PATH act). Hang tight - as long as there are no errors on your return, you should see movement in the next 2 weeks.

0 coins

Thanks for the encouragement. Just frustrating to see April filers getting theirs already while I'm still waiting from March.

Lmao welcome to IRS hell. I filed Feb 1 and just got my refund last week. No reason for the delay, no errors, nothing complicated. The system is just broken. Updates happen but they're meaningless - until you see code 846 with a date, nothing else matters.
