When does WMR and Transcript Status Update? Daily or Weekly?
Does anyone know what time and day the refund status updates on WMR and transcripts? I keep checking multiple times a day but nothing changes. Is it daily or weekly updates?

Hey everyone, tax professional here to clear up some confusion about WMR and transcript updates. The Where's My Refund tool (WMR) typically updates once per day, usually overnight. However, transcripts can update multiple times throughout the day as the IRS processes returns. The best time to check WMR is early morning, around 3-6am EST. For transcripts, you might see changes throughout the day, but major updates usually happen overnight too. If you're struggling to make sense of your transcript or WMR status, I highly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai). It's been a game changer for my clients - it analyzes your transcripts and gives you a clear timeline of what's happening with your return and when you can expect your refund. Way better than trying to decode those cryptic transcript codes yourself!

IRS transcript updates happen every Friday morning around 3-6am EST. Where's My Refund (WMR) updates daily but usually overnight between 3-6am. But honestly checking multiple times a day won't make it come any faster - trust me I've been there 😅

The cycle code on ur transcript tells u which day of the week yours updates. Mine ends in 05 so its always thursdays

•look at the numbers on ur account transcript, should be like 20241505 or something. last 2 digits = ur update day

From my experience, WMR updates once daily (usually overnight between 3-6am EST) and transcripts typically update weekly on Fridays around the same time. But like others mentioned, the cycle code on your transcript determines your specific update day - it's the last 2 digits of that long number on your account transcript. I used to check obsessively too until I learned this schedule! Now I just check Friday mornings and save myself the stress. The waiting game is brutal but at least knowing when to actually look helps 😊
