What is the 'As Of' date on IRS transcript? Keep changing every week

My transcript keeps showing different as of dates and its changing every week. First it was March 1, then March 15, now its showing April 1. Does this mean anything for my refund? Filed in January and still waiting.

The 'as of' date on your transcript is essentially a processing checkpoint date for the IRS. It's when they last reviewed or plan to review your account. Changes in this date don't necessarily mean progress - it's more like an internal computer update. Some people see it change weekly without any actual movement on their refund.

Pretty much. It's more of an administrative date than a progress indicator

Instead of trying to decode the As Of date, I've been using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It costs $1 but it actually tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than trying to guess what all these dates mean https://taxr.ai

Sometimes it means they're reviewing your account but honestly its hit or miss. I've seen mine change 20 times before I got my refund last year

The as of date is literally the most useless thing ever invented by the IRS and thats saying something considering everything else they do 🤮
