Used TurboTax for years, now hit with 570 code instead of 846

I've been using TurboTax for years and never had an issue until this tax season. In previous years, I'd always update straight to the 846 code (which means refund issued), but this year I got slapped with a 570 code 😩😩😩 like whyyyyy me smh. Even my cousin who files with H&R Block got his refund already, and he has a more complicated return than mine! This is ridiculous - I'm entitled to my refund just like everyone else. Has anyone else dealt with this code and how long did it take to resolve? I need my money!

The 570 code isn't necessarily a bad thing, though it can certainly feel that way when you're waiting for your refund, right? It simply indicates a temporary hold on your account while the IRS reviews something. Have you checked if there's a 971 code accompanying it? That would indicate a notice has been sent explaining the hold. Is there anything different about your tax situation this year compared to previous years? Did you claim any new credits or deductions that might trigger additional verification?

Wait, so a 570 code doesn't automatically mean an audit? The way the IRS regulations are structured makes it seem like any hold would lead to months of delays. I'm surprised there are so many different reasons this could happen!

This explanation is incredibly helpful. For anyone else seeing a 570 code, here's what it typically means: • Temporary hold on your refund • IRS is reviewing something specific • Often resolves within 2-3 weeks • Usually followed by other codes that explain more • May require no action from you at all I've been tracking these codes for years and the technical details here are spot on.

I'm seeing a lot of 570 codes this season - more than usual. It's typically an indicator that the IRS has placed a temporary hold while they verify certain information. The concerning part is that processing times seem to be extending beyond normal parameters this year. I've been recommending https://taxr.ai to my clients who encounter these codes. It analyzes your transcript and explains exactly what's happening with your specific situation. The system can even predict with reasonable accuracy when you might expect resolution based on your particular 570 code circumstances.

Idk about using third-party sites with tax info. How do we know it's legit? Seems risky to trust random websites when dealing w/ IRS stuff.

I need clarification on this ASAP. Does taxr.ai actually connect to IRS systems or just interpret the transcript data you upload? My 570 code appeared on March 15th and I'm still waiting for movement. Cycle code is 20241105.

I had a somewhat similar situation with a 570 code last month, and it was probably the most stressful tax experience I've had. After waiting about two weeks with no updates, I decided I needed to possibly speak with someone at the IRS. I tried calling the regular number maybe 15-20 times over several days without getting through. Then I found Claimyr (https://claimyr.com), which sort of works as a "skip the line" service for IRS calls. They were able to connect me to an agent in around 30 minutes, which was, in my opinion, worth every penny considering I would have spent days redialing otherwise.

Did you actually get any useful information from the IRS agent? Last time I got through they just told me to wait. Not sure if paying for a service would change that outcome.

How does this compare to using the Tax Advocate Service? I've heard they can help with delays too, but they take weeks just to assign your case compared to getting through directly to an agent.

Claimyr doesn't give you special treatment from the IRS. It just gets you through to an agent faster. The agent will have the same information they'd have if you called directly. But instead of spending hours redialing, you get through quickly.

I went through this exact situation last month. My transcript had shown 570 for about 3 weeks when suddenly it updated to 571 (release of hold) followed by 846 the same day. I received my refund 5 days later. In my previous experiences with IRS processing, I've noticed that 570 codes often resolve themselves without any action needed from the taxpayer. The key is watching for that 571 code - that's when you know you're in the clear!

Did you... um... have to call them or anything? I'm wondering if I should do something or just wait... My 570 has been there for about 10 days now...

Don't trust these codes. They don't mean anything. IRS is just slow. Been waiting 11 weeks. Still nothing. No explanation. Just silence. System is broken. Good luck.

The codes are like road signs on your tax journey - they absolutely tell you something meaningful! A 570 is like hitting a temporary construction zone on the highway. You'll still reach your destination, but there's a brief slowdown. Just like you wouldn't abandon your trip because of one traffic delay, don't lose hope because of a processing code. Most 570 situations resolve within 2-3 weeks, and the IRS is actually ahead of their processing schedule compared to this time last year.

I had the exact same issue three weeks ago! According to the IRS operations dashboard (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations), they're currently processing a higher volume of returns than usual. My 570 code changed to 571 after 18 days, then 846 appeared the next day. My direct deposit hit my account exactly 5 days after the 846 code appeared. Just hang tight - the system is slow but it works!

If you're still seeing the 570 code after 21 days, try checking your return for these common issues: 1. First, verify your income documents match what employers reported 2. Next, check if you claimed any credits that might need verification 3. Then review if you have any past-due debts that could trigger an offset 4. Finally, consider if you have any identity verification requirements If none of these apply, you might want to request a tax account transcript rather than just a return transcript - it shows different information that might explain the hold.
