Transcript shows reduced refund amount & switched from weekly to daily cycle - what's happening?
My refund amount on my transcript just dropped by a few thousand and my cycle code changed from weekly to daily. Been checking WMR every morning and nothing has changed there. Anyone know what this means? Starting to get worried about my refund.

Tax expert here - when your transcript switches from weekly to daily processing and shows a reduced refund amount, this typically indicates your return is being actively reviewed. The IRS may have found discrepancies or needed adjustments that affected your expected refund. Common reasons include math errors, missing forms, or income verification issues. Don't panic though - being on daily processing actually means they're working on finalizing your return. I'd strongly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcript in detail. It can pinpoint exactly what changed and why your refund amount was adjusted. The AI will break down all the codes and give you a clear timeline for when to expect your refund based on similar cases. Way better than trying to decode all those confusing transcript codes yourself!

•Same boat! My refund got adjusted down but taxr.ai showed me it was bc of some education credit math error. At least now I know why 🤷♀️

This usually means the IRS is making adjustments to your return. The switch to daily processing typically happens when they're actively working on your account. Could be due to credits being adjusted or math errors they found.

Did you claim any credits like EIC or CTC? That usually triggers reviews and adjustments
