State Refund Status Shows Processed - How Long Until I Actually Get My Money?

My state tax refund status finally updated to processed but says allow 8-12 weeks to receive. Has anyone gone through this? When did you actually get your refund? Getting anxious about the timeline here.

The 8-12 weeks is usually just a standard disclaimer. Most people get their state refunds within 2-3 weeks after processing. If you chose direct deposit, it could be even faster. Keep checking your bank account - it often shows up without the tracker updating.

oh thank god, that makes me feel better. did you get yours already this year?

Yep! Got mine 9 days after it showed processed. Direct deposit ftw 💯

Instead of playing the waiting game, you should try taxr.ai - its only $1 and it analyzes your transcript to tell you exactly whats going on and when youll get paid. Way better than these vague status messages tbh

Depends on if you got any credits or deductions tbh. Clean returns go faster

California is definitely running behind this year - I'm seeing a lot of people waiting 4-6 weeks even after processing. The good news is once it shows "processed" you're basically in the queue and it will come. I'd expect it within the next 2-3 weeks if you did direct deposit. Paper checks take longer obviously. Just keep an eye on your bank account!

Thanks for the realistic timeline! I did choose direct deposit so hopefully that helps speed things up. Good to know that "processed" means I'm actually in the queue - the status messages are so vague it's hard to tell what's actually happening behind the scenes.

Same boat here! Mine showed processed 10 days ago and still waiting. From what I've seen in other threads, California is definitely taking longer this year - seems like they're backed up from the volume. The "8-12 weeks" thing is their worst-case scenario disclaimer, but most people are getting theirs in 3-4 weeks after processing. Since you have direct deposit that should definitely help speed it up compared to paper checks.

This is really helpful to hear from someone in the same situation! 10 days feels like forever when you're waiting but sounds like we're both on track for the 3-4 week timeline. Did you also file early or was yours more recent? Just trying to gauge if filing timing affects the processing speed at all.

I filed pretty early - end of January - so not sure if that made a difference in processing time. From what I've read it seems like once they get backed up, the timing doesn't matter as much as just where you fall in their queue. The waiting is definitely the worst part! At least we know the money is coming though 🤞

I'm in a similar situation - California refund showing processed for about 2 weeks now. From everything I'm reading here and other posts, it seems like CA is just really backed up this year. The direct deposit should definitely help speed things up compared to paper checks. I've been checking my bank account daily like a crazy person lol. Hoping we both see our refunds soon! The waiting game is brutal but sounds like most people are getting theirs within that 3-4 week window after processing.
