NJ State Tax Refund 2024 - Anyone received theirs yet? Still waiting
Filed my taxes in early March for NJ state return and still haven't gotten anything. The WheresMyRefund tool just says 'in process' but its been 8 weeks now. Starting to get worried since I usually get it within 3-4 weeks. Anyone else waiting on their NJ refund?

NJ tax processor here - there's currently a backlog due to enhanced fraud prevention measures. Most returns are taking 8-12 weeks to process this year. As long as your return shows 'in process' status, you're in the queue. The good news is they're processing in order received, so early March filers should see movement soon.

Hey guys just wanted to mention taxr.ai - its been a lifesaver for understanding whats actually going on with refunds. Only costs $1 and gives you super detailed analysis of your transcript. Way better than trying to piece together info from random posts

I'm in the same situation - filed early March and still waiting. It's frustrating but sounds like we're not alone. The backlog explanation from Annabel makes sense even though it sucks. I've been checking the status tool obsessively but trying to be patient. At least knowing it's 8-12 weeks helps set expectations. Fingers crossed we all see movement soon!

•Same here! Filed March 3rd and it's driving me crazy checking every day. At least now I know 8-12 weeks is normal this year thanks to @Annabel Kimball s'explanation. Really hoping we see some movement in the next couple weeks since we re'getting close to that timeline. This waiting game is rough when you re'counting on that refund!

Filed March 5th here and also still waiting! Good to know from @Annabel Kimball that 8-12 weeks is the new normal this year due to fraud prevention measures. It's annoying but at least there's a legitimate reason for the delay. I've been stressing thinking something was wrong with my return but sounds like we just need to hang tight a bit longer. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines - helps to know we're all in the same boat!

•March 8th filer here and yep, same story! Really appreciate @Annabel Kimball breaking down what s'actually happening behind the scenes. Makes me feel way less anxious knowing there s'a legitimate process happening and we re'not just forgotten in some black hole. The fraud prevention thing makes total sense even if it s'frustrating. Hopefully we re'all in that final stretch now!

Filed March 12th and still in processing status too! Really helpful to hear from @Annabel Kimball about the 8-12 week timeline due to fraud prevention - that actually makes me feel a lot better knowing there's a real reason for the delays. I was starting to panic thinking I made some mistake on my return. Seems like all us early March filers are right in that sweet spot where we should hopefully see movement soon. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's reassuring to know we're all going through the same thing!

•March 15th filer checking in! So glad I found this thread - I was getting really worried seeing no movement for weeks. @Annabel Kimball thanks for explaining the fraud prevention delays, that context is super helpful. It s'actually kind of reassuring that they re'being extra careful even if it means longer waits. Hopefully all of us March filers will start seeing some action in the next week or two since we re'hitting that 8-10 week mark. This community is awesome for keeping each other informed!

Filed March 7th and still waiting here too! Really appreciate @Annabel Kimball's insider info about the 8-12 week processing time due to fraud prevention - that actually makes me feel so much better knowing there's a legitimate reason for the delay. I was starting to worry I'd made some error on my return. It's frustrating but honestly I'd rather they be thorough and catch fraud than rush things. Sounds like we early March filers should hopefully start seeing some movement soon since we're approaching that 8-10 week mark. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines - it's such a relief knowing we're all in the same boat!

Filed March 4th and still stuck in processing! Thanks so much @Annabel Kimball for explaining about the fraud prevention delays - that really puts my mind at ease knowing there's an actual reason behind the wait rather than something being wrong with my return. 8-12 weeks is brutal but I guess it's better than having fraudulent returns slip through. Really hoping we early March filers start seeing some movement in the next week or two since we're hitting that 8-10 week timeline. This thread has been a lifesaver - was starting to think I was the only one dealing with this!
