How long after state tax refund shows 'processed' status will I receive payment?
Just checked my state refund status and it says processed but theres this message about allowing 8-12 weeks to receive. Anyone know if it actually takes that long? Really need this money and wondering if I should expect the full wait time or if it usually comes faster.

Tax professional here - the 8-12 week timeframe is usually a maximum estimate. Most processed refunds are actually deposited within 2-3 weeks after showing as processed. However, this can vary by state and whether you chose direct deposit or paper check.

•Thank god its DD, hoping it comes faster then. Did you see alot of delays this year?

•Yeah, seen more delays than usual tbh. But DD definitely speeds things up 👍

Hey there! Have you tried using taxr.ai? Its saved me so much anxiety with my refund situation. For $1 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly when to expect your refund and if there are any holdups. Way better than playing the guessing game tbh https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! Used it for both my federal and state returns. It even caught a potential delay issue I wouldnt have noticed 💯

NY state is definitely backed up this year - I'm seeing similar delays across the board. The "processed" status usually means they've finished reviewing your return and approved the refund, but the actual payment can still take a few more weeks. Since you have direct deposit, you should hopefully see it within the next 2-3 weeks. If it goes beyond 4 weeks from the processed date, I'd recommend calling their refund hotline to check for any issues.

•Thanks for the info! That's really helpful to know. I'll give it another week or two before I start panicking. The direct deposit should definitely help speed things up compared to waiting for a paper check.
