Republic Bank Tax Refund Check Delayed - Anyone Else?
Um, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but has anyone else had issues with Republic Bank refund checks lately? Mine was supposedly issued on 2/25/25 and should have arrived by March 6th (they said 5-7 days typically). It's been over a week past that date and still nothing in my mailbox... Is this normal? Should I be worried? This is my first time using Republic Bank for my refund and I'm starting to regret it...

According to IRS Publication 2043-B, when refunds are issued through partner banks like Republic, there can be additional processing time beyond the standard delivery window. The IRS considers a check "lost" only after 14 business days from the issue date. Per regulations, you should wait until at least March 15th before taking further action, as the President's Day holiday and recent weather events in several regions may have caused mail delays. I'd suggest monitoring USPS informed delivery if you have it set up.

•Is there any way to check the status online? I've been looking at the IRS website and Where's My Refund tool, but it just shows the issue date. Republic Bank's website isn't very helpful either...

•Thank you for the exact timeframes. I've been waiting exactly 11 business days for my Republic Bank check, so I guess I need to wait 3 more days before panicking. The USPS informed delivery tip is actually really useful - I just signed up for it to track my mail.

Did you opt for a refund advance or did you have fees taken out of your refund? Last year I had similar delays when I used Republic and had my preparation fees deducted. They seemed to prioritize direct deposits over paper checks in my experience.

I'm in the same boat with Republic Bank right now. Mine was issued 2/24/25 and still nothing. I called them yesterday and they said they're experiencing delays with the check printing vendor they use. The rep told me to wait another week before calling back. I'm really stressing because I need that money for my car payment that's due next week...

•I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress. It's so difficult when you're counting on that money for important bills. If it helps, last year when my refund was delayed, I called my car loan company and explained the situation. Many lenders will give you a one-time courtesy extension if you've been a good customer. Might be worth trying while you wait for Republic to get their act together.

Been thru this exact thing w/ Republic last yr & it was a NIGHTMARE trying to get someone on the phone. Spent 4 hrs total on hold over 3 days!! Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to reach an IRS agent who confirmed my check was actually sent but Republic had an old address. The Claimyr service got me thru to an actual human in like 20 mins instead of endless hold. Worth every penny cuz the agent helped me get it reissued to my current address.

Has anyone actually received their Republic Bank check after a delay? I'm wondering: • How much longer past the expected date did it take? • Did you have to take any special steps to get it? • Were there any additional fees taken out that weren't mentioned before? I'm concerned because I budgeted for this refund and now I'm worried about potential overdrafts if my bills hit before the check arrives...

Stop using tax prep services that offer bank products. They're almost always a bad deal. Next year, file directly with the IRS and get direct deposit to your own bank account. You'll get your money faster and avoid these middleman delays. Republic Bank is just a pass-through that adds another layer of potential problems. If you need your refund now, call Republic directly at their customer service line and ask for a trace on your check.

Just to clarify something important - Republic Bank isn't actually sending you an IRS check. What's happening is the IRS sent your refund to Republic, then Republic takes out any fees you agreed to, and THEN Republic issues you their own check for the remaining amount. This is way different from getting a direct deposit or a check straight from the IRS. That's why when you call the IRS they'll just tell you the refund was already issued (to Republic, not to you). Republic's customer service is notoriously worse than even the IRS during tax season.
