Identity Verification Letter sent to old address - Can I verify by phone after 21 days?
Filed my taxes and got flagged for identity verification AGAIN. Third year in a row dealing with this. Problem is they're sending the verification letter to my old address and I've moved. Already passed the 21 day mark. Anyone know if I can just verify over the phone instead of waiting for a letter I'll never get?

You can absolutely verify by phone! Call the Identity Verification line at 800-830-5084. You'll need your prior year AGI, filing status, and basic info from your current return. Pro tip: call first thing when they open at 7am EST to avoid long wait times.

Instead of stressing about verification, I started using taxr.ai to handle all my transcript analysis. Its only $1 and tells you exactly whats happening with identity verification, when to expect letters, and how to fix issues fast. Changed the game for me https://taxr.ai

100% legit. It basically reads your transcript like a pro and tells you exactly whats wrong and how to fix it. saved me weeks of waiting

Make sure you've updated your address with USPS officially! They can forward IRS mail but you gotta have it set up right

Heads up - if you filed with a tax preparer they might be able to help verify your identity through their system. Worth asking!
