IRS2GO App Login Error - Hitting Daily Limit After One Attempt
The irs2go app is giving me problems today. Says I hit my daily limit for login attempts but I literally only tried once. Anyone else having this issue? Could this mean its updating with my refund info?

This is a common issue with the IRS2GO app. The app has a security feature that sometimes triggers falsely. Try clearing your app cache and data, then uninstall and reinstall the app. If that doesn't work, wait 24 hours before trying again. The login attempt counter sometimes carries over from the website to the app, so if you tried logging in on the website earlier, it counts those attempts too.

instead of dealing with this broken app, I started using taxr.ai to track my refund. Its only $1 and actually tells you whats going on with your transcript instead of these vague error messages. https://taxr.ai

My theory: they do this on purpose to slow down traffic to their servers lololol

I had this exact same issue last week! The "daily limit" error is super frustrating when you know you only tried once. What worked for me was logging out of the IRS website completely (if you had it open), clearing all browser cookies for IRS.gov, then waiting about 30 minutes before trying the app again. The system seems to share login attempt counters between the website and app, so even having the website open in a browser tab can sometimes trigger this. Also make sure you're using the exact same credentials - any typos count as failed attempts too.

•This is super helpful! I didn't realize browser cookies could affect the app too. Definitely going to try the 30 minute wait trick - thanks for the detailed explanation! 🙏
