WMR and IRS site keep locking me out - too many attempts error message
Anyone else getting locked out of Where's My Refund and the IRS site? I know I'm putting in the right info but keep getting error messages saying I've exceeded too many tries and to come back tomorrow. This is driving me crazy.

This is a security feature the IRS implements to prevent unauthorized access attempts. You need to wait 24 hours before trying again. Make sure you're entering your exact refund amount from your return, not an estimated amount. Also, use the SSN of the primary taxpayer if filing jointly.

•I get it, but even one number off will trigger the lockout. Double check everything when you try again tomorrow.

Hey, I was in the same boat. I started using taxr.ai ($1) and it's been a game changer. Instead of getting locked out trying to decode the WMR site, it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. https://taxr.ai

•100% works better than WMR. It breaks down everything in your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on. Best dollar I've spent this tax season fr fr 💯

Pro tip: try checking early morning like 6am EST. Systems usually reset then and less traffic means less chance of getting locked out

Same issue here. Been locked out 3 days straight. Called them and was on hold for 2 hours just to get hung up on 🤮

I had the same problem last week! What worked for me was clearing my browser cache and cookies completely, then waiting the full 24 hours before trying again. Also make sure you're using the exact refund amount from line 35a of your 1040 form, not any estimated amount. The system is super picky about matching everything exactly.

•Thanks for the tip about clearing cache! I'll definitely try that when my 24 hour lockout is up. Did you have to wait the full 24 hours or could you try sooner?
