Just found out April 8 is walk-in verification day at IRS offices. No appointment needed. Perfect if you've been waiting forever to verify your identity. Thought this might help someone who's been stuck in verification hell.

This is accurate. Several IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers will be open on Monday, April 8, 2024, for face-to-face identity verification. Bring two forms of valid ID (drivers license, passport, etc) and any IRS notices you've received. Hours are typically 9am to 4pm but check your local office.

•Yes, SS card is accepted as one form of ID. Just make sure your second form has a photo on it.
