IRS Disaster Area Indicators causing mass verification delays - Here's why & how to verify without letter (FL Hurricane)
Just got off the phone with TPP and found out why so many people are getting verification requests this year. If you lived in a disaster area (mainly hurricane zones), the IRS automatically flagged your account. This affects lots of people in the south and east coast. Good news - you can verify without the letter if you're in these areas! I verified on 2/11 without a letter (Florida resident). My WMR status changed from still processing back to processing and the verify notification disappeared. Got my DDD for 2/20/25 just 5 days after verifying.

For those in disaster areas, you can bypass the verification letter requirement by calling TPP directly. Just make sure you have your tax return info ready when you call.
