IRS 2023 Tax Refund Delay - 90 Day Wait After Verification. Any Way to Speed It Up?
Anyone else still waiting on their 2023 tax refund? I filed in April, did all the verifications and amendments by July, and now they're telling me to wait another 90 days for a letter. This is getting ridiculous. I'm thinking about emailing the IRS, but not sure if that's even worth it. Any advice on how to speed this up or at least get some real answers?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting since February and still nothing. The IRS is a joke this year 🤡

February?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them?

Yeah, multiple times. Always get the runaround or told to just keep waiting. It's like talking to a brick wall 🧱

Same boat here. Filed in March, still crickets. This is getting beyond frustrating.

Pro tip: Don't bother emailing. The IRS doesn't handle inquiries via email for security reasons. Your best bet is to keep calling or use their online tools for updates.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll have to keep playing phone tag with them 😩

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this mess for months: 1. Keep all your documents organized and ready. 2. Call early in the morning for shorter wait times. 3. Be persistent and call regularly (once a week). 4. Ask to speak with a supervisor if you're not getting anywhere. 5. Check the 'Where's My Refund' tool daily. 6. Consider reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. It's a long game, but stay on top of it. Good luck!

This is solid advice. The Taxpayer Advocate Service really helped me out last year when I was in a similar situation.

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I was skeptical too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 to actually talk to a human? Might be worth it at this point lol

Have you checked if you're part of the earned income tax credit (EITC) or additional child tax credit (ACTC) group? Those refunds are often delayed until mid-February due to the PATH Act.

This is why I always file for an extension. Rather wait to file than wait for my refund 🤷♂️

That doesn't even make sense. If you're owed a refund, you're just letting the government hold onto your money longer 🤦♀️

Plot twist: the IRS is using our refunds to fund a secret space program 👽🛸
