I received a letter from IRS today. It was an ID verification letter. I verified online through ID.ME. After completion it said to check WMR for updates in 2-3weeks and to expect 9 weeks for refund. Is it really 9 more weeks after ID verification?

Former IRS agent here. The 9-week timeline they give is actually a worst-case scenario. In my experience, most people get their refunds much sooner after ID verification - typically 2-4 weeks. The IRS uses these longer estimates to cover themselves. However, each case is different and depends on whether there are other issues with your return.
