How to obtain state tax transcript? Can't find clear instructions
I need my state tax transcript for a mortgage but I can't figure out how to get it. The IRS website only shows federal transcript options. Anyone know the process for getting state transcripts? Been trying for days and getting nowhere.

State transcripts are different from federal - you'll need to go directly through your state's tax agency website. Each state has their own process. What state are you in? That would help narrow down the specific steps you need to take.

For CA, go to ftb.ca.gov, create an account if you haven't already, and look for 'Get Copy of Tax Return.' They charge about $20 per copy.

FYI - most mortgage lenders actually want federal transcripts, not state. Double check with your lender before paying for state copies
