How to check my state tax refund when tax preparer won't respond? Need help ASAP

My tax preparer took forever to send my documents and overcharged me. Now I cant figure out if I even got state taxes filed. Need to know how to check if state taxes were actually filed and what I might be getting back.

You can check your state tax status directly through your state's department of revenue website. Each state has their own portal - just google '[your state] where's my refund' and it should pop up. You'll need your SSN and the refund amount if it was filed. Also, get a copy of your return from the preparer - its your legal right to have all documents.

Usually just need last 4 of SSN and rough estimate. If nothing comes up, might mean it wasnt filed tbh

Hey! I actually found this amazing tool called taxr.ai that can analyze your transcripts and tell you exactly whats going on with both federal AND state returns. It's only $1 and saved me hours of stress. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It showed me everything including my state refund status, processing dates, and even caught an error my preparer made

Get your transcripts from IRS.gov immediately! Will show if state return was linked to federal. Also request itemized receipt from preparer - they legally have to provide it
