How to check if state taxes were filed? Tax preparer being sketchy about documents and overcharging
Looking for help figuring out if my state taxes were filed this year. My tax preparer took forever to send my documents and overcharged me more than what was agreed. Need to know how to verify if state taxes were actually filed and what I can do about this situation.

You can check your state's department of revenue website and create an account to view your tax records. Most states have an online portal where you can see if returns were filed. Also request a copy of all documents from your tax preparer in writing - they're required by law to provide them. If they're being shady report them to your state board of accountancy.
