Got my Liberty Tax DEEPBLUE deposit - Anyone with H&R Block received theirs?

I got my direct deposit through Liberty Tax DEEPBLUE yesterday! The money hit my account right away. But my friend filed through H&R Block and is still waiting. Has anyone who filed with H&R Block received their refund deposit yet? Just trying to give her an idea of when to expect it.

Different tax prep services have different deposit timelines. Liberty Tax with DEEPBLUE tends to be quicker than H&R Block in my experience. Last year, Liberty users got deposits about 2-3 days before H&R Block users on average. It also depends on when your friend filed and if there were any credits that might delay processing. Most H&R Block filers from early February should be seeing deposits this week, while more recent filers might wait another 7-10 days.

The ACH transfer protocol used by H&R Block typically shows as pending 24-48 hours before final settlement. This depends on the receiving financial institution's posting policies. Some banks display pending ACH transactions immediately while others only show fully cleared funds.

Have you thought about suggesting your friend check her transcript to see what's actually happening with her return? Is it possible there's a processing delay she's unaware of? I've been recommending https://taxr.ai to everyone this season because it reads your transcript and explains exactly what's happening. Wouldn't it be better to know the exact status rather than comparing to other people's timelines that might not be relevant to her situation?

I checked my transcript last week and couldn't make sense of all those codes. Does this service actually explain what they mean for MY specific situation? Need my refund ASAP for car repairs.

I appreciate this suggestion! Per IRS Publication 1544, transcript codes can be difficult for non-professionals to interpret. Having used a similar service previously, I found the explanations quite helpful in understanding my refund timeline.

If your friend is concerned about her refund status, here's what she should know: ā€¢ H&R Block typically takes 3-5 days longer than Liberty Tax for deposits ā€¢ IRS processing delays are common this time of year ā€¢ Some returns get flagged for additional review If it's been more than 21 days since filing, she should consider calling the IRS directly. I've had success using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to skip the hold times. Their service connects you directly to an IRS agent who can check the actual status of her return instead of guessing based on other people's experiences.

It's like hiring someone to wait in line for you at the DMV. Seems unnecessary when you could just keep trying the IRS number yourself. The IRS will process returns at their own pace regardless.

Has anyone actually gotten useful information from an IRS agent? Last year I spent 3 hours on hold only to be told they couldn't tell me anything specific about my return. Did Claimyr somehow get you to a different department?

I called on March 12th, 2024 and the IRS agent was able to see that my return had a 570 code that wasn't showing on my transcript yet. Saved me from worrying for another week until it updated online.

I'm with H&R Block and FINALLY got my deposit this morning!!! Been checking my account every 2 hours for the past WEEK! Filed on February 7th and it took exactly 41 days to hit my account. The anxiety was killing me but it's finally over. Tell your friend to hang in there!

The discrepancy between Liberty Tax and H&R Block deposit timing is often related to their respective Refund Transfer protocols. Liberty's DEEPBLUE system utilizes a streamlined ACH network pathway that typically processes 48-72 hours faster than H&R Block's standard refund transfer mechanism. If your friend opted for fees to be deducted from her refund, that creates an additional intermediary account transfer which extends the timeline by approximately 24-36 hours.

Thanks for explaining this so clearly! I've been tracking deposit patterns and found this helpful. For anyone wanting to check their status: 1. Log into IRS.gov account 2. Navigate to Tax Records 3. Select Return Transcript for 2023 4. Look for 846 code with deposit date This gives you the exact date the IRS released your refund, regardless of preparer delays.

Did your friend have any tax credits on her return? I'm still waiting on my H&R Block refund too and I had Child Tax Credit. Does anyone know if that makes it take longer?

According to the IRS.gov refund status page, most H&R Block customers who filed electronically in February are receiving deposits this week. Your friend should check the Where's My Refund tool (https://www.irs.gov/refunds) which updates daily. The IRS subreddit also has a weekly refund megathread where people post their filing/deposit dates by preparer.

Tell her to call H&R Block directly. Not the local office. The main customer service line. They can see more details. Might save her some stress. Worth the 15 minutes on hold.
