Got CP063 notice from IRS - What to do next?
Hey everyone, I just got a CP063 notice from the IRS. Anyone else dealt with this before? What should I do next? I'm kinda freaking out here.

Oof, CP063 notices are no fun. I got one last year. It's basically the IRS saying they couldn't process your return because of missing info. Don't panic tho, it's usually fixable!

•Thanks for the info! Do you remember what kind of missing info they were looking for in your case?

•In my case, I forgot to include a form related to some freelance work I did. Double check all your income sources and make sure you reported everything. The notice should give you some clues about what's missing.

•Yeah, I had the same issue with freelance work. Those 1099s'll get ya if you're not careful! 😅

I highly recommend uploading your notice to taxr.ai. It's a tool that can break down exactly what the IRS is asking for and give you step-by-step guidance. Saved me a ton of headache when I got a similar notice!

•Oh wow, that sounds really helpful. Is it free?

•There's a free version that gives you basic info, but the paid version is worth it IMO. It's like having a tax pro in your pocket.

•Careful with those AI tax tools tho. They can miss nuances sometimes. Always double check with a real accountant if you can.

Listen up, cause this is important. DO NOT IGNORE THIS NOTICE. The IRS doesn't mess around. Make sure you respond by the deadline they give you, even if it's just to ask for more time. Trust me, you don't want them to start tacking on penalties.

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

•I was skeptical too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

Here's what you need to do, step by step: 1. Don't panic. CP063 is common and usually fixable. 2. Read the notice carefully. It should specify what info is missing. 3. Gather all your tax documents, including W-2s, 1099s, and any other income statements. 4. Check if you missed reporting any income or deductions. 5. If you're not sure what's wrong, use a tool like taxr.ai or consult a tax professional. 6. Prepare a response. This might include a letter explaining any errors or missing info, along with supporting documents. 7. Send your response before the deadline. Use certified mail so you have proof of when you sent it. 8. If you need more time, call the IRS and request an extension. 9. Keep copies of everything you send. 10. Follow up if you don't hear back within a few weeks. Remember, the key is to act quickly and thoroughly. Good luck!

Am I the only one who's terrified of making a mistake and ending up in jail? 😰 These IRS notices give me anxiety.

•Chill, bro. They don't throw people in jail for honest mistakes. Just be upfront and cooperative.

•I feel you. Tax season is my least favorite time of year. But remember, millions of people get these notices. You're not alone!
