Filed with Solar Credit Forms - Rejected, Resubmitted, Now Stuck in Processing Limbo
Hello everyone. I am having issue with my tax return and need help please. Here is what happened step by step: 1. Filed my return on February 10, 2024 2. Got rejection notice on February 12 because of updated solar credit forms 3. Fixed the forms and resubmitted same day (February 12) 4. Received acceptance confirmation right away But now I am having two problems: 1. My tax transcripts are completely blank when I check online 2. Where's My Refund tool only shows "still being processed" message I tried calling the regular 1040 number but cannot get past the automated system. It just keeps giving me recorded messages. Is anyone else having similar problem with solar credit forms? Also, can someone please share good phone number to reach actual person at IRS? In my country before, tax office was much easier to contact.

This is nothing compared to what I went through last year with the EV credit. At least yours was accepted! I had to paper file after 3 rejections. The IRS is notorious for delays with any kind of energy credit - solar is particularly bad this year because they updated Form 5695 in late January and most software wasn't ready. Your transcript being blank is actually normal at this stage - it means they've accepted but not started processing the actual review yet.

•According to IRS Publication 1345, returns with refundable credits are subject to additional verification steps. This often extends processing times beyond the standard 21-day window outlined in IRC Section 6611. The solar credit in particular triggers additional review protocols under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act guidelines.

•This makes me feel so much better! I've been panicking for weeks about my blank transcript! Filed with solar credits on February 8th and I'm still waiting. My anxiety has been through the roof because I need this money for a new roof installation that's already scheduled. 😰 Thanks for explaining this is normal!

Have you verified your return was actually accepted and not just acknowledged? It's like the difference between dropping a letter in a mailbox versus getting confirmation it was delivered. Sometimes taxpayers confuse the acknowledgment (we received your submission) with acceptance (we've verified your basic information matches our records).

Did you receive an actual acceptance confirmation from the IRS or just from your tax software? Many people don't realize there's a difference, right? And have you checked your account transcript, not just your return transcript? Sometimes the account transcript will show pending actions when the return transcript is still blank. Isn't it also possible that the solar credit is triggering additional verification that's causing the delay?

•I'm worried now... how do I know if I got an actual acceptance from IRS? My software sent me an email saying "Your return has been accepted by the IRS" on February 12. Is this enough? Or do I need to check somewhere else to be sure?

•Check IRS.gov and look for your Account Transcript. This shows all activity on your account. TaxAct, TurboTax and other software only tell you the IRS received your return. They don't know what happens after that.

•Did you receive any confirmation code with your acceptance notification? What does the status show when you log into your tax preparation software? Have you tried checking both your Account Transcript and Return Transcript separately? Sometimes one updates before the other.

I went through this exact same nightmare last year with my solar installation credits. Blank transcripts for weeks, couldn't reach anyone at the IRS. I remember spending hours trying to get through on different phone numbers. Finally found Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was just stuck in a verification queue because of the energy credits. Nothing was wrong - just needed more time. Saved me so much stress knowing nothing was actually wrong with my return!

•I was skeptical too but used Claimyr on March 15th when my amended return from October 2023 showed no progress. Called regular IRS number 9 times without success. With Claimyr I spoke to an agent within 22 minutes who confirmed my return was selected for review under Internal Revenue Manual section 21.5.3. The technical explanation saved me months of uncertainty. Worth every penny for time-sensitive tax matters.

I wouldn't worry yet. It's normal. Processing takes time. Energy credits slow things down. The system is backlogged. February filers often wait longer. Transcripts update in batches. Your case isn't unusual. Try checking again next week. Many returns are still pending. The IRS is understaffed. Solar credits require manual review.

I filed on January 29th with solar credits. Got accepted January 30th. Transcripts stayed blank until March 12th. WMR showed processing the entire time. Refund finally deposited on March 15th. Never got through on the phone. The energy credits definitely delay things but they process eventually.

I think I might be having similar situation with you... My return had solar panel installation credit too. I was worried about making mistake on the form, but maybe this is just normal delay? I waited about 5 weeks before my transcript showed anything. Then suddenly everything updated at once. Maybe we just need to be patient a little longer? Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, it helps me understand this is probably normal.

Try 800-829-0582 extension 652. Call exactly at 7:00am EST. Press 1 for English then 2 for tax questions. When asked for SSN, enter it slowly. Don't press anything when asked about forms. Wait through two messages. You'll get a person about 50% of the time. I've gotten through three times using this method.

I'm going through something very similar! Filed on February 15th with solar credits and my transcript has been blank for weeks too. The "still being processed" message on WMR is so frustrating when you're expecting a refund. Reading everyone's experiences here really helps - it sounds like the solar credit forms are just causing normal delays this year. I've been checking my transcript obsessively but maybe I should just be more patient. Has anyone found that calling multiple times actually helped speed up the process, or did your returns just eventually process on their own timeline regardless?

•I'm in the exact same boat as you! Filed February 8th with solar credits and have been checking my transcript daily like it's going to magically update overnight. From what I'm reading here, it sounds like calling doesn't actually speed things up - the returns just process when they're ready. I think I'm going to stop obsessively checking and try to be patient like everyone suggests. At least we know we're not alone in this waiting game! The solar credit delays seem to be affecting a lot of people this year.
