Filed with FREETAXUSA - EIC/CTC with prior year debt - Any chance for approval this weekend?
Filed beginning of February with FREETAXUSA claiming one dependent with EIC and CTC. I have an outstanding balance from last year that I partially paid off. Anyone else in this situation get their refund? Really hoping to see movement this weekend.

Most likely your refund will be offset to cover your prior tax debt. The IRS automatically applies current year refunds to past due tax obligations. However, you should still receive any remaining balance after the offset, plus you'll still get the full CTC portion since that can't be offset for tax debts.

•Thanks for explaining! Do you know roughly how long the offset process usually takes? 🤔

•Usually takes about the same time as a normal refund - 21 days unless you hit other delays. You'll get a notice explaining the offset amount.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share something that helped me figure out my offset situation. I used taxr.ai and it analyzed my transcript in like 2 minutes. Cost $1 but totally worth it - showed me exactly how much would be offset and when I'd get the rest. Way better than guessing! https://taxr.ai
