Filed with Child Tax Credit but received it after filing - any refund delays?

Quick Question: Has anyone who filed their taxes & claimed the Child Tax Credit but then ended up receiving their advance payment after filing & getting accepted experienced any problems with their refund or gotten a deposit date??? I'm getting worried because it's been 3 weeks and WMR still shows processing...

This happens more often than you'd think. When you claim a credit on your return that you subsequently receive through another channel, the IRS reconciliation process flags your return for manual review. This typically adds 4-6 weeks to processing time as they verify you're not double-dipping (even though it was their timing issue, not yours). Your return is likely in the Error Resolution System (ERS) queue waiting for an examiner to adjust the amount.

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Do they at least send a letter or something to let me know? Or do I just keep checking WMR every day like a crazy person?

Same thing happened to me last year! I was checking WMR obsessively until I found https://taxr.ai - it analyzed my transcript and explained exactly what was happening with the adjustment. Showed me the specific codes that meant they were fixing the credit amount and even predicted my new refund amount before the IRS updated it. Saved me so much anxiety not having to guess what was happening!

How is some random website going to know more than the actual IRS? Sounds sketchy to me. I'd just wait for official updates.

It doesn't know more than the IRS - it just explains what the IRS codes and notices actually mean in plain English. The information is all there in your transcript, but most people (including me) don't know how to interpret all those codes and dates. It just translates the IRS-speak into something that makes sense.

This happened to me in February. They adjusted my refund down by the amount of the credit I'd already received. Took about 5 weeks total, but I did eventually get the rest of my refund without having to do anything. They sent a notice explaining the adjustment about a week after the deposit hit my account lol.

Are you checking your transcript or just WMR? Transcript will update with codes that show what's happening before WMR changes. Look for code 570 (hold) followed by 571 (release) and then 846 (refund issued).

I had this exact situation and waited 2 months with no updates. Finally used Claimyr.com to get through to an actual IRS agent (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) instead of wasting hours on hold. The agent confirmed they were adjusting my return and gave me an exact timeline. Refund hit my account the next week. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human who can see what's actually happening with your specific return.

Thanks for this suggestion! I've been trying to call for days and can't get through. How much does Claimyr cost? Is it worth it?

Totally worth it for the peace of mind. I spent way more in gas driving to the IRS office twice (where they couldn't even help me) before I found Claimyr. Getting actual answers instead of guessing what's happening is priceless when you're waiting on money you need.
