Filed on 04/05 and Still Have Blank Transcripts - Anyone Else?
Filed exactly 42 days ago on April 5th and still showing no transcript data whatsoever. Checked at 9:30am today - completely blank. Are there others who filed on 04/05 still waiting for transcript updates? They're definitely treating us like the step kids this tax season ššš

I was in the exact same boat! Filed 4/5 and had blank transcripts until yesterday. After searching through dozens of IRS forums and the official processing guidelines at irs.gov/refunds, I discovered this is actually normal for April filers this year. The IRS is prioritizing returns with refundable credits first. My transcript suddenly populated yesterday with all codes at once - so relieved!

Thx for this info! Was freaking out tbh. Been checking WMR like 3x daily and nothing. Good to know there's hope!

Did you notice any pattern with the update timing? My husband and I filed on April 3rd, and I'm wondering if we should expect transcript updates on a specific day of the week. Last year our transcripts updated on a Thursday (May 11th, 2023).

I think, possibly, what's happening is that the IRS might be experiencing some sort of backlog with the April filers. I had a somewhat similar issue and couldn't make sense of my transcript when it finally appeared. I tried, you know, calling the IRS but couldn't get through after waiting on hold for what felt like forever. Someone on another thread recommended https://taxr.ai and it was actually pretty helpful for breaking down the transcript codes and explaining why mine was delayed. It basically confirmed I was just in normal processing, which was technically a relief but still frustrating.

How does a third-party service know more about your transcript than the IRS itself? I'm always wary of these tools that claim to analyze official tax documents. Did you have to upload your personal transcript information?

I was skeptical too, but compared to my experience last year with a CP12 notice, this service was surprisingly accurate. My 2023 return had similar delay patterns, but took 76 days to process. The taxr.ai analysis matched exactly what the IRS agent told me when I finally reached someone - just saved me the 3-hour phone wait. You don't upload your whole transcript - just enter the codes and dates.

Is it like having a tax professional interpret your transcript, but automated? My transcript is like reading hieroglyphics - I understand the basics but miss the nuances.

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? What's frustrating is that their phone lines are almost impossible to get through, right? I was shocked when I learned how backed up they are this year. After trying for 4 days straight, I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. They explained that April 5th filers are in a specific processing batch that's just now starting to update in their systems. At least I got a straight answer instead of more waiting!

Wait - you're suggesting paying a service to call the IRS? That seems: ā¢ Unnecessary when we can call ourselves ā¢ Potentially risky giving access to a third party ā¢ Another expense when we're already waiting for our money Need to know if this is actually worth it ASAP as I'm approaching day 45 of waiting!

According to Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1.3, the standard processing time for electronic returns is 21 days, but returns filed in April typically see extended timeframes. The blank transcript issue specifically occurs when your return is in the initial processing queue but hasn't been assigned to a processing path yet. This isn't necessarily a delay or hold - just the normal sequence for April filers.

I'm not convinced this is normal. Filed same day as you. Got transcript updates within 2 weeks. Something else might be wrong. Did you have any credits? Any identity verification issues before? Previous year returns still pending?

I understand your frustration completely. Have you checked if you have any letters from the IRS? Did you file with any special credits or deductions that might trigger additional review? Sometimes blank transcripts can indicate your return is in a specific review queue, especially if you filed right before the deadline when volume is highest.
