9 weeks and still no updates on WMR or transcript - losing patience
9 weeks tomorrow since I filed and still no updates whatsoever. Where's My Refund shows no progress and transcript still says N/A for 2024 馃憥馃徔 Starting to wonder if my return is just sitting in a digital pile somewhere being ignored. Anyone else stuck in limbo this long?

Unfortunately, this tax season has been particularly slow for many filers. The IRS is experiencing significant backlogs, especially for returns that might require additional review. Have you checked if there were any credits or deductions on your return that might trigger additional scrutiny?

I claimed the standard deduction and child tax credit. Nothing complicated or unusual. Just seems ridiculous that it's taking THIS long with zero updates.

I was in the exact same situation last month - 8 weeks of nothing, then suddenly everything moved. The Child Tax Credit can definitely slow things down. When my transcript finally appeared, I used https://taxr.ai to analyze it and it helped me understand all the codes. The tool predicted my exact refund date 5 days before it hit my account. Might be worth checking once your transcript updates.

Is that service actually reliable? I've seen so many 'transcript analyzers' that just tell you what you could figure out yourself.

Honestly, I was skeptical too. But it explained what each code meant specifically for my situation, not just generic definitions. It showed me why my refund was delayed (verification of CTC) and gave me an accurate timeline. Way more helpful than just staring at transcript codes trying to decipher them myself.

The IRS is seriously behind this year. My brother filed in January and just got his refund last week. Child Tax Credit definitely triggers additional verification - it's part of the PATH Act protections against fraud. Not much you can do except wait it out... or call them.

Have you tried calling the IRS? I know it's a nightmare, but sometimes that's the only way to find out if there's an actual issue or if it's just normal processing.

Tried calling 3 times. Waited on hold for over an hour each time before giving up. It's impossible to get through.

After being in the same situation (8 weeks, no updates), I used Claimyr.com to get through to an IRS agent. Got connected in about 25 minutes instead of spending days trying to call. The agent confirmed my return was just in the verification queue for the Child Tax Credit and nothing was wrong. Gave me peace of mind even though I still had to wait another week. Here's their link if you want to try: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

This is frustratingly common this year. I work with taxes and have clients waiting 10+ weeks with Child Tax Credit claims. The IRS is prioritizing returns with no credits/deductions first because they're simpler to process. Not fair, but that's how they're managing the backlog.

That's messed up. People who need the money most (families with kids) have to wait longer? System is broken.

I completely agree. The irony is that families who qualify for credits often need the refunds more urgently. The IRS claims it's to prevent fraud, but the real issue is their outdated systems and understaffing.
