Filed Jan 28 Still No Processed Return and No 2024 Transcript WTF

I'm about to LOSE MY MIND!!! Filed on January 28th and it's STILL saying no processed return and no 2024 transcript available?? WTF is going on with the IRS this year?! This is BEYOND irritating. I'm working remotely and counting on this money for some equipment upgrades. Every morning I check and NOTHING changes. Is anyone else dealing with this nightmare or is it just me getting screwed over? I've NEVER had it take this long before. 😡😡😡

This is unfortunately quite common this tax season. I've been tracking similar cases and noticed a few patterns: • The IRS is experiencing significant processing delays for early filers • Many January filers are still waiting for transcript updates • System backlogs seem particularly bad for certain processing centers • Transcript availability often lags behind actual processing • WMR tool updates are inconsistent with internal systems It's frustrating but doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with your return.

I was probably in a similar situation last month, and it was possibly the most frustrating experience I've had with the IRS. After waiting about 45 days with no updates, I tried calling the regular IRS number maybe 12 times without getting through. I finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) which seems to connect you with an IRS agent by essentially handling the hold time for you. The agent confirmed my return was just sitting in a processing queue with no issues flagged. It might be worth the fee if you're particularly concerned about your return status.

According to IRS Publication 5344, "normal processing time for electronically filed returns can extend up to 21 days, but system constraints and verification requirements may extend this timeframe significantly." I'm in the same boat - filed February 1st and still nothing. Should we be worried at this point? The IRS website says not to call until it's been more than 21 days but it's been WAY longer than that now...

I called after 25 days last year. The agent told me straight up that the 21-day guideline is outdated. Said they're seeing 30-45 days as standard now, especially for early filers. Don't panic yet.

This situation is similar to what happened in 2022, when many early filers experienced delays compared to those who filed in March or April. In your case, as with many January filers, the system might be processing but not updating the visible status. If you received an acceptance confirmation when you filed, that's generally a positive indicator that things are moving normally, albeit slowly.

Here's what you need to do to get clarity on your situation: Step 1: Create an account on the IRS website if you haven't already Step 2: Pull your full tax transcript (not just the return transcript) Step 3: Use https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript codes Step 4: The analysis will tell you exactly where your return is in processing I was in the same situation and taxr.ai explained that my return had a 570 freeze code that wasn't visible on WMR. It predicted exactly when my refund would be released and explained why it was delayed. Saved me hours of frustration trying to interpret those codes myself.

I've heard about these transcript analysis tools, but I'm not entirely convinced they provide information you couldn't get yourself. In my previous experience with the IRS, their internal systems sometimes contain different information than what's available to these third-party services. Wouldn't calling the IRS directly give you more definitive information about your specific situation?

Haha, I thought the same thing - "I can just Google the codes!" 😂 Boy was I wrong. Spent three hours trying to figure out what a 971/570 combo meant for MY specific situation. Every forum had different answers. Taxr.ai actually explained it was a standard verification delay in my case and not an audit. Saved me from a panic attack! Sometimes it's worth letting the robots do the hard work.

Have you perhaps claimed any tax credits that might potentially trigger additional verification? I'm wondering if your return might possibly be subject to the PATH Act, which could conceivably delay processing until mid-February regardless of when you filed. This might explain why you're not seeing any transcript updates yet.

This is exactly what happened to me! I claimed EITC and even though I filed January 15th, they wouldn't even start processing until February 15th because of PATH Act restrictions. The IRS doesn't make this clear enough to early filers.

Have you checked your Account Transcript rather than just the Return Transcript? Sometimes the Account Transcript will show Transaction Codes that indicate processing activity even when the Return Transcript shows as N/A. The TC 150 posting would confirm your return is in the system.

I was in your exact situation last year. Filed January 20th and nothing showed up on my transcript until March 18th! I checked every single day and was going crazy. Then suddenly my transcript updated and I got my refund a week later. The IRS rep I eventually reached told me they were just overwhelmed with returns and mine was sitting in a digital queue waiting to be processed. Nothing was wrong with it - just backlogged.

OMG this EXACT THING happened to me and it drove me INSANE! Filed January 25th and NOTHING showed up on my transcript until April 2nd! The most FRUSTRATING part was that there was nothing wrong with my return - it just sat in their system for over TWO MONTHS! I know it feels like you're being singled out, but the IRS is just terribly inefficient with their processing queues. Hang in there - it WILL process eventually!

Filed Jan 31. Nothing for weeks. Transcript finally updated yesterday. Refund scheduled for next week. Hang in there. System's just slow.

According to the IRS.gov website under 'Where's My Refund' FAQs, a lack of transcript doesn't necessarily mean your return isn't being processed. The IRS systems that update transcripts are separate from the main processing system. You might want to check https://www.irs.gov/refunds for the most current information on processing times. They're currently showing extended timeframes for early filers.

Thx for this info! Been checking WMR like a maniac and it's driving me nuts. Good to know the transcript system is separate. Gives me a tiny bit of hope lol.

Harold Oh

But why would they have completely separate systems that don't talk to each other? It's like having your car's speedometer and fuel gauge running on different computers that don't sync up. Doesn't this seem like a fundamental design flaw in their system?

Has anyone calculated the exact average wait time for early filers this year? I filed exactly 57 days ago and still nothing, while my friend who filed on March 12th already received her refund in 16 days. Is there data showing January filers are consistently waiting 60+ days?

This is super helpful, thank you! Was about to call them tomorrow but will give it another week based on this. Really appreciate the actual facts instead of just speculation!
