Filed Jan 24, accepted Jan 27 - still processing while my daughter already got DD date?

Filed my taxes on January 24th and got accepted on the 27th but still stuck in processing. The weird thing is I filed my daughters return on January 27th, it got accepted on the 29th, and shes already got a direct deposit date for February 11th. Makes no sense why mine is taking longer when I filed first. Anyone else experiencing this?

This is actually pretty common. The IRS doesn't process returns in a strict first-in-first-out order. Different returns get routed through different processing paths based on credits claimed, income types, and various other factors. Simple returns with just W2 income typically process faster than more complex returns.

That makes sense but its still frustrating. Mine is just a basic W2 return too tho 😤

Even with simple returns, random selection for review can happen. Give it another week before getting worried.

Hey I was in the same boat last week trying to figure out why my return was taking longer than my sons. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed exactly why - there was a small discrepancy that was causing a delay. Best $1 I ever spent tbh. Check it out here: https://taxr.ai

Yeah its crazy good! You just upload your transcript and it breaks everything down in plain english. Showed me exactly why I was delayed and when to expect my refund. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself

Have you checked your transcript? Might give you more info than WMR

This tax season is already a mess tbh. Seen so many ppl with similar situations where later filers getting paid first
