Filed Feb 6th via Chime - No Updates on WMR Yet While Everyone Else Gets Their Refunds
Filed taxes Feb 6 & still have no update on the IRS website!! Filed through chime, idk what's taking so long but dang I'm starting to get jealous of everyone else getting their taxes 🤣😭 I've triple-checked all my info and everything should be accurate. Working remotely means I really need this refund for my home office upgrades. Anyone else waiting this long or am I just unlucky?

So here's the deal w/ the IRS this yr. They're running behind on certain batches of returns, esp those filed in early Feb. Chime's advance is just a loan based on EXPECTED refund - doesn't mean actual IRS processing is faster. Have u checked ur transcript? WMR isn't always reliable & sometimes doesn't update until right b4 deposit. Might be worth checking for any letters they sent too - sometimes they need verification before processing.

I just looked into this on the IRS website and they're saying processing times are "normal" but I've seen sooo many posts like this. According to their own data, about 90% of e-filed returns should be processed within 21 days, but clearly that's not happening for everyone! I was in the same boat last year and my return just suddenly appeared one day with no warning or updates on WMR.

The IRS is like that restaurant that says "15 minute wait" but you're still standing there an hour later. I filed Feb 3rd and just got my refund yesterday with zero updates on WMR the entire time. It was like watching paint dry on a rainy day. The system is frustratingly opaque - you're definitely not alone in this waiting game.

Have you pulled your actual transcript instead of just checking WMR? WMR is notoriously unreliable, but your transcript will show the real status. Wouldn't it be helpful to know exactly what's happening with your return instead of guessing? I was in a similar situation and used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript - it decoded all those confusing codes and gave me a much clearer picture of where my return was stuck and when to expect movement. Saved me a lot of anxiety since I could see exactly what was happening behind the scenes.

I've been filing taxes for over a decade and I've noticed this happens EVERY year with Chime filers. Back in 2022, I waited 6 weeks with no updates. Last year, my sister used Chime and had the same issue. There seems to be something about how Chime processes that triggers additional review. Try checking your account transcript instead of return transcript - sometimes that updates first!

This matches my experience too. I analyzed what happened with my returns over the past 3 years: • 2022: Filed with Chime - 47 day wait • 2023: Filed with direct deposit to regular bank - 18 day wait • 2024: Filed with Chime again - currently at day 32 with no updates It's not definitive proof, but there does seem to be a pattern with certain banks triggering longer processing times.

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? Sometimes there's a simple verification issue they need to clear up. I was in the same situation last month and wasted hours trying to get through their phone system. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. Turns out there was a simple mismatch they needed to verify. Would you be able to spare $20 to potentially resolve this much faster? For me it was worth it to find out exactly what was causing the delay instead of just waiting in the dark.

Be careful with services that claim to get you through to the IRS faster. I'm not saying Claimyr doesn't work, but I've seen other services charge people and not deliver. Have you personally used this service successfully?

I've used Claimyr twice now and can explain how it works: 1. You pay their fee 2. Their system navigates the IRS phone tree for you 3. When an agent is about to answer, you get a call 4. You're connected directly to the IRS agent It doesn't guarantee a solution to your tax issue, but it does guarantee you'll speak to an actual human at the IRS without spending hours on hold.

Does this actually work during peak tax season though? I've heard the IRS phone lines are completely jammed right now. Are people still getting through using this service even with the current high call volume?

I used it exactly 8 days ago and got through in 23 minutes. My colleague tried the regular IRS number the same day and gave up after 2 hours on hold. The technology they use to navigate the phone tree and hold your place in line is impressive - definitely worth it if you need answers quickly.

Did you claim any credits like the Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit?? Those typically take longer to process and the IRS doesn't always make that clear! I'm so frustrated for you - I remember how anxious I was waiting for mine last year!! 😫

I was in your exact situation last year. Filed Feb 8th through Chime and didn't see my refund until March 29th! The whole time WMR just showed "still processing" with no explanation. I was counting on that money for car repairs and ended up having to put them on a credit card. The wait is definitely stressful when you're budgeting around that refund. Thanks to everyone here for the helpful advice.

You might want to try accessing your tax transcript through the IRS website rather than relying on WMR. The Account Transcript often shows pending refund information with cycle codes that can give you a more accurate timeline. If you see code 570 (refund hold) followed by 971 (notice issued), that's typically indicating they need additional information. Many Chime users report longer processing times due to the routing numbers triggering additional verification in the IRS fraud detection filters.
